Wednesday...Loan & Inspection

The loan application went fine, as we knew it would (pre-approval is gold). Obviously until the closing (still set for May 29th) we can't make any major purchases, change jobs, etc. (Who doesn't know this stuff??!)

Home owners insurance is set, everything there is finished.

The inspection went well, there were a few things we knew about, like the back step from the kitchen needs replaced. And there were several things that didn't matter/we'll fix ourselves, like a crack in the sidewalk and the fan over the oven not working properly. The only thing we asked that they (the seller) fix is an electrical issue in the attic (junction box) and some wiring not being finished off above the garage door. I don't think that should be an issue on their end, so now we wait.

All our "jobs" are done until the final walk through and closing.

Have a great day!

Monday... OPI Liquid Sand Nail Polish Review

Sorry this blog is late, I went to the park Sunday with the niece and nephew and fell in the mud, landing on my wrist. That part wasn't fun.

Liquid Sand comes in a variety of colors, I have the two pictured above.
I love this polish, and wish I could find more (I got these at T.J. Maxx).
Both of mine are from the Mariah Carey Collection promotion, but there are other Liquid Sand Collections.

What I think:
It's easy to apply, and doesn't require a top coat.
It has a matte finish, yet is still sparkly.
It goes on and dries like normal polishes.
It's a bit harder to get off than normal polish (think glitter) but I believe that's a fair trade off, since it lasts longer.
It doesn't stain, even when I didn't use a base coat.

Overall I'd definitely recommend!

Have a great day!

Friday.. Mother's Day Cards...

Since I'm going to be busy packing, I decided to go ahead and make my mom & sister their Mother's Day cards.

I used the same stamps/stamp set on both, however I know my sister doesn't keep her cards so I tend not to spend as much time on hers.

Materials Used:
VersaColor Pigment Ink in 311 Antique
Cardstock from Tuesday Morning
Ki Paper Pad~ Color Crush (6x6)
Ki Paper Pad~ Metro Garden (6x6)
ATG Gun
Paper Trimmer (mine is Prove Craft)
Bling from Michaels and Dollar Tree
American Crafts Bakers Twine in 98325
Small Corner Rounder by The Paper Studio
Stamps:
Heidi Swap Birthday Quad (It's your day) {2013}
Fiskars  Holiday Hooplah {2010} Not pictured, inside of card.

Mom's Card. She likes more earth tones.

Sis likes the bolds and brights.

Have a great day!

Wednesday~ Packing and stuff...

                             Packing is never fun.
This is especially true when things are still up in the air, (pending inspections, etc) yet you have to be ready to go anyhow.

We are making some progress though, and while I knew we had gained a lot of "stuff" in the 4 yrs we've lived here, I didn't think after packing 50ish boxes it'd still look like I hadn't done a thing:

Sheesh!

Slow progress.

On the flip side of all this packing, we are scheduled to make the loan application later today, then Friday morning is the inspection. We've already got several quotes on Home Owners Insurance and are making a decision there when needed (Though I don't know when that is is this process).
So far we're ahead of schedule according to the timeline given to us by our realtor.
I feel like at this point it's hurry up and wait..
Hopefully all goes well and we'll be moving in May!

Have a great day!

Monday~ Hairstylist..

I was a hairstylist for several years before we moved to TN and I let my (Ohio) license lapse (lesson learned, too late). I still do my own hair, and family/friends hair, and just this past weekend gave my mom a cut & color and it got me to thinking about working in a salon..

I found this article, some things I remember/could relate to, others were funny, and some were odd. What are your thoughts??

Hairdresser Problems

Friday~ Get to know me, Crafting Tag

Questions:
(Tag found on Youtube)

1)What is your YT name/what is your name?

CraftinWife Amanda

2) How did you get started with crafting?

My dad worked for JoAnn Fabrics ( FabriCenters of America) distribution center in the 80s & 90s, so he was always bring home freebies and samples, from reward programs and employee sales. As kids my sister and I loved all types of crafts and really got spoiled with all the awesome products! In my teens I didn't craft much, and didn't really get back into until 2010 when my niece was born.

3) Fav. Crafting brand?

Any/All. I am absolutely not brand loyal, however Xyron is the best sticker maker out there, and I don't know what I'd do without my Sizzix!

4)Fav. Color?

Purple! However in crafting I love all colors.

5) What is your crafting style?

I wouldn't say I have a specific style, other than I know I don't like Shabby Chic. Anything else is good!

6)What is something you would like to try? (alterations/copic coloring etc.)

Heat Embossing, sewing, working more on coloring images, etc.

7) Fav. YT channel?

Craft wise? There are a lot of really good ones. I like Scrapbook.com's YT for new product information, and for awesome scene cards check out EmchantedSteph.

8)If you ONLY had $10 in your pocket, what would you spend it on and where?

Probably dies or stamps or paper at Tuesday Morning.

9)When you start crafting, what is the one item that helps you put it all together?

What/Huh?? Adhesive. Either ATG (Advancted Tape Glider) or Xyron.

10) If you would have never heard of crafting, what other hobby would you have picked up?

Hard to imagine, but reading, hiking, interior design, etc all come to mind.

11) What #1 item do you recommend the newbies to have?

Depends on the craft, but you always need good scissors!

Have a great day!

Wednesday~ Nothing new on the home front...or maybe YES!

We've now looked at 2 or 3 more, they were all a no.
We have more to look at Friday, so we'll see.

UPDATE:
We looked at 3 Friday, well 2 really because the one we didn't even finish driving to the property, it was that crazy of a location. One they were asking way to much for and it shared yard and driveway with two other homes, NO WAY! The first one we saw that day we all really liked, so over dinner we talked about it (and the others). Sunday we made an offer, and by 3pm they had accepted. From what I hear the "easy" part is over. Our approximate closing date is May 29th.
Now onto the land of inspections, finance, and insurance...

Have a great day,

Monday, Wednesday, Friday~ Bad blogger.

Monday:

Hope you all had a great Easter, ours was lovely. The niece and nephew had fun doing the Easter Egg Hunt & a scavenger hunt to find their goodies from us. The weather was kind of cool, and  the wind didn't cooperate well for pictures this year so we couldn't face the woods like we usually do (here's the unedited pics):

Girls.

Sis & family.

Boys. (Someone wasn't very cooperative.)

Hubby & I.

Wednesday:
More house-y stuff?!
We went and looked at the one I told you about. NO WAY!
The renters literally showed us/blocked us in every room. They clearly don't want to move, and they can keep it as far as I'm concerned. What would have been Mom's space has no heat or air, moldy walls, and the only basement access thru the closet. Both bathrooms had leaks that flood the basement. and the location wasn't ideal either. (this place is listed at 99,900!)
After that the realtor pulled up a listing that was new that day and we went to see it.
We love it! All the space we want/need, and well under budget! We made an offer on Saturday. Monday we found out they had multiple offers, we made a stronger offer. Wednesdayish we heard from the realtor that the REO/ Bank owner found out there were FOUR tax liens against the property. They can't remove the listing, or respond to anyone, until they get those taken care of.  I don't know much about the issue but I imagine the price will increase, and I know it can take up to two months to fix. So we keep looking!

Friday:
I haven't crafted much lately, so I'll share our Easter eggs!

Have a great day!

Wednesday~ What we're looking for in a home!

 What are we looking for?

Even though this will be the first home we buy, we don't plan to (have to) ever move again. Been there, done that. We've moved 8 or 9 times in 15 years, we've been in Tennessee for 13 years and here for 4 (as of March).

My mom is going to move with us, and pay rent so we need something with a somewhat separate living space, ideally she'd like to have (at least)  her own Bedroom, Living space, and Bath. So garage apartment, basement, etc would work perfectly for her and her 2 dogs.

We would like to have 3bd, 2ba (though one bath is ok) of our own. (Bedroom, Office, Guest/My office. I currently share an office with hubby, and always have, but he's to messy/cluttered for me, so It'd be nice to be able to shut the door on his space and not have to look at it.) Style of home doesn't matter to us, nor does it matter if it's needing a little bit of work.

We also have a dog, so we need enough space for Mom's dogs to play and ours to have her own little space. Anywhere between .25 and 2 acres is on the list. I garden and can (food) a little, but other than that and space for the dogs, we don't want a ton of acreage to keep up with.

We'd like a 2 car garage, but are fine with none. It'd be nice to keep the car(s) out of the heat /cold, but we've never had a garage, so it's not like we'd miss not having it.

At this point we've driven by, and eliminated to many to count. We've also now looked at 9 in person, it seems like each one is worse than the last. We've now expanded our area to include all 3 nearby towns, instead of just the 2 closest to the city (where we currently live). Still nothing.

We have one to go look at on Friday, I don't really like it from pictures, but we will see. It's 3 bd 2 ba, 2 car garage, and 2ac and the last house on a dead end road (of 4 homes). Other than that there is only one more on the list we'd like to see.

House hunting isn't so much fun anymore....

Have a great day,
~CraftinWife
