Not Monday, Not Crafty..

Hey Ya'll!

Yesterday, 4/27/20, my Dad's dog passed away. Instead of blogging we spent the day with my Mom, sister, & her family out at my sisters house (where Boots was buried).

Regular blog will return tomorrow, at my new site:http://craftinwifescreations.com/
(Monday=Craft related, Wednesday=Beauty related, & sometimes Friday=Life/anything goes.)

Have a great day,

Something I noticed while doing home clean up.. Clothing sizes

Hey ya'll!

"Vanity sizing, or size inflation, is the phenomenon of ready-to-wear clothing of the same nominal size becoming bigger in physical size over time. This has been documented primarily in the United States and the United Kingdom."

I noticed while cleaning out the closet that I had to try on almost everything, even though I've lost 50+ lbs.
Anything from a 12-18 currently fits sometimes, but not always, depending on brand, cut, style, etc.

I have 2 pair of shorts, for example, both from Old Navy, one is a 14 and fits perfectly, the other a 16 and those are a little tight. How is bigger smaller?

I could care less about the number, same goes for most women I know, we just want some consistency! Heck I'd be happy to be consistent in brand at least.

It goes past vanity sizing at this point.

I found these articles on the subject interesting.

Why isn't there standard clothing sizing?

Home Clean Up, Living Room & Bedroom Closet

Hey ya'll!

This "safer at home", social distancing, self isolation, whatever we're calling it, is starting to really get to us!
We're currently working on cleaning up the whole house. The living room is finished, and I'm gonna share pics of that below. Other than moving the sectional piece, and hooking up the electronics again it went pretty smoothly, we were done in a day.
Cleaning the ceiling fan while we've got stuff in the middle of the floor.

Currently I've been working on the bedroom closet. I did not realize how many clothes I had! Significantly less now since not much fit, but still more clothes than I need survived the cleanup/cut.  Hubby actually had a lot to donate as well, as soon as we can. Currently I have about 1 tote w/ shoes and bags to go,  1 with linens, and around 8 or so of clothes (women's mostly 1, 2, and 3x, mens 30s and 32s) sitting in the front entry waiting to go.

Tomorrow hubby is going to finish building his dressers, and then we can finish the bedroom!

40 Beauty Questions

Hey Ya'll!

This is another questions & answers blog!
Here they are:

40 Beauty Questions -How many times do you wash your face daily? Once.
-What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo) Combo.
-What is your current facial wash? Neutrogena
-Do you exfoliate? Not as much as I should.
-What brand do you use? I've tried several, nothing I'm in love with yet. (Suggestions?)
-What moisturizer do you use? Currently using the rose oil I mentioned last beauty blog.
-Do you have freckles? A few.
-Do you use eye cream? I haven't found one I love.
-Do you or did you have acne prone skin? Not really. As a teen I had a few big breakouts, but nothing major.
-Did you ever have to use Pro-activ? Nope.
-What foundation do you use? Currently, Bare Minerals powder foundation. I'm not a fan of heavy/high coverage liquids, to me they feel yucky.
-How about concealer? None.
-Do you know your undertone color? Yes.
-What do you think of fake eyelashes? Too much work. Also the huge ones tend to hide all that beautiful eye shadow work.
-Did you know that you are suppose to change your mascara every 3 months? Yes, but I don't wear it every day, so I tend to go a little longer.
-What brand of mascara do you use? I have several, but my current favorite is Stila.
-Sephora or MAC? Sephora! Not a MAC fan, and there isn't a MAC store anywhere near me to my knowledge.
-Do you have a MAC Pro-card? Nope.
-What makeup tools do you use in make up application? Brushes.
-Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes? Sometimes, other times I'm too lazy/don't want to spend the time doing it.
-For the face? See above, although it never looks as good as when a primer is used.
-What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)? One shade????? I guess a more nude color, it goes with anything.
-Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner? Pencil.
-How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil? Rarely. I've been doing it since I was 13.
-What do you think of pigment eyeshadows? Some are nice, some aren't.
-Do you use mineral makeup? Yes, but not exclusively.
-What is your favorite lipstick? I have way to many to pick a fav.
-How about lipgloss? See above.
-What is your favorite blush to use? The Balm Frat Boy.
-Do you buy your makeup on ebay? No. I just never think about it.
-Do you like drugstore makeup? Typically no. It's not as good IMO, and cost almost just as much as high end.
-Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets) No, but only because the closest one is 2+ hrs away.
-Did you ever consider taking make-up classes? I went to Cosmetology school, does that count?
-Are you clumsy in putting on makeup? I can be.
-Name a makeup crime that you hate? Sharpie eyebrows.
-Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones? Both, but I am a fan of color.
-Which celebrity always has great make up? We all have off days.
-If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use? Eyeliner.
-Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on? I have lots of times.
-Do you think you look good even without any makeup on? Yeah, better with, but yeah.
-In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line? Controversy around the brand at times, but I own a lot of TooFaced. They make good stuff, and I try not to follow too much drama.
-What do you think of Makeup? Love!!

A Day Late.... Crafty Questions

Hey ya'll!

I didn't craft at all this past week. I did finish the craft room, at least until I can move the donations out. Can't wait for outside to be open again. We also moved the Living Room around, that was an all day project, but I'm glad we did it, the room looks so much bigger (and cleaner).

Here's the questions and my answers.

1. What is your name? Amanda
2. How did you come up with your You Tube name? It's CraftinWife Amanda. I craft, and I'm married.
3. What is your favorite craft? Probably making stuff with the Cricut.
4. What is your favorite place to shop for craft supplies? Michael's, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn, Ben Franklin.
5. What are your top 5 favorite crafty you tubers? I don't watch any regularly, and am not subbed to any. (Suggestions?)
6. What is your favorite color? Purple.
7. What is your favorite craft tools? Cricut, Sizzix, ATG.
8. Where do you get your love of crafting from? Dad, and Mom.
9. When did you start crafting? As a kid. Dad drove truck for JoAnn Fabrics, and also worked at their distribution center/corporate headquarters in Hudson, OH. They had awesome employee sales back then, I don't know if they still do those or not. With mom we'd do a lot of kid crafts, and even more crafting in the winter. We also did a lot of iron on and fabric paint on shirts, jeans, bags, etc.
Then as a teen/YA I quit crafting for awhile and picked it up again in 2010 when my niece was born, I started making her hair bows, it grew from there.
10. What has been your favorite craft so far? The decorations I've made for B-Day parties. Those are always fun.

Do you have any questions you'd add? Post them below!

Thanks,

Beauty Products I'm Loving Right Now

Hey ya'll!

Here is a list of products I've been enjoying lately.
Includes affiliate links.

1)Rose Oil
I've been using this all over my skin. Chemo makes you so dry, and my skin was dry before that. I've only been using it a few days and have noticed an improvement already.

2)Dr. Lipp Lip Balm
Just like the rest of my skin, my lips have been so dry. I received mine as a sample in my January Birchbox and when I first got it I had been using it several times a day. It's working well and I've noticed I don't "need" to use it as often. I generally only put it on before bed now.

3)Shampoo & Conditioner
Herbal Essences Sulfate Free. It's working well for my peach fuzz head, however I've been told Baby Shampoo is the best and may switch to that soon.

Craft Room, Making Progress

Hey y'all!

This past week I made my warrior tee, and continued working on the craft room. I also spent a lot of time on YouTube and my phone doing nothing, and searching for new project ideas.

Warrior Tee:
I made this using my Cricut, HTV in black and peach, and a white Hanes V-neck. (Peach HTV was insanely hard to find! Finally got some here: Amazon)

And I just now noticed I misspelled "whispered" both times on this shirt. Go me! :/ There is no room to fix it either. I'm blaming chemo brain. This font was also very difficult to weed, and I won't ever use it with vinyl again. I'm totally wearing it anyhow, what else can I do?

The Progress:
I knew this was going to be a task, and it has been. I hope to finish it this week, I'm almost there.

Desk area is finally mostly cleaned off and mostly organized the way I want it.

Cricut Easy Press area, need to find a home for all the tote bags. In front of it is the pile of stuff I've picked to be donated/sold. The floor is trash/packaging I don't need to keep.

(Kodak) Printer, that I hate & Hubby loves, and Bookshelves.

Blurry bookshelf and more sell/donate stuff on the floor. Got the box of books put up this morning.

Mess. Most of this (not the racks, or the stuff on/in them) is sell/donate, now to find somewhere to store it all until the outside is back open again..

I've made a good bit of progress so I should be able to finish it this week no problem.

What have you all been working on? Are you making progress?

Have a great day!

It Was Time, Shaving My Head..

Hey ya'll!

As the title of this blog says, it was time. My hair started falling out tremendously after Chemo #2, so I decided it was time. We used a Wahl clipper, with the 1/4in attachment. I've used Wahl clippers since Cosmetology School (1998) and would definitely recommend the brand for hair dressers and home use.

I am (clearly) not a video editor, nor do I {we} shoot well either for that matter, but we did record the process:

I actually am not as in shock at the sight of myself as I thought I may be, but my "team" did warn me before chemo even started that with the types I was receiving it wasn't if I was going to lose my hair, but when. They all predicted about 3-4 weeks post chemo #1 and that was on track.

 Befores:
The day before, the week before, and way before (last year).

 All done!

All made up, and no where to go! :)

Thanks for sharing in my journey!
