Looking Back, the first blog of my makeup "collection".

 Hey Y'all!

Let's look back at my first make up blog from 2014:

My "Collection".

I had had makeup prior to this, but it always fit in something this size or smaller. Hard to believe this is where I'm at as of my declutter series in 2020. It's about time to do another "collection" blog. I am decluttering as I go far more often with the Everyday Shelf, but I've added new items too.

2014 me had yet to explore high end makeup, my first purchase there would be Urban Decay Electric Palette. (Which I still have.) Then I went through only buying high end, now I'm in a happy medium.

Let's go through the products I had then!

I've far outgrown the case, but I do still use it for makeup/toiletries when we travel. It's plenty sturdy enough without being too large.

I don't know if any of these Hard Candy items are still available. I remember liking the colored mascara fairly well. The lip gloss was eh, but I liked it at the time. The eyeliners were bad, even then.

The Jordana lip balms were great and I thing I actually used them almost completely. (The company has since closed, here is the web post about the closure.) The E.L.F. Lip Exfoliator got dry and hard very quickly, so I wasn't a fan. (It is still on the website, and marked as a top product.)

The NYX glitter eyeliners I remember using for every holiday I could. (Maybe they were awesome, maybe I didn't have anything else, LOL.) The E.L.F. Palette was in California ??? It was great, I used it daily for a long time. (they no longer have any baked eyeshadows.) Nothing else from this photo is memorable, good or bad.

I used this Physician's Formula BB Cream & Powder for years! I still like it, but enjoy trying new things too much to repurchase currently.

The only thing I remember about those eyeshadows is how pigmented they WEREN'T.

These glosses were ok. I remember the dual sided E.L.F. as being my favorite, the one on the top right was my go to color, if I'm remembering correctly it was a touch more mauve in person.

I remember the Almay mascara was nice but no longer exists, my Mom got it for me in blue. The Hard Candy one in purple packaging was, in fact, purple and the gold was gold. The glitter one was horrible and would flake off and make a mess. The Wet 'n Wild was pretty good, they've always had hits and misses, with most products falling somewhere in the middle. The 4 eyeliners were Avon, and I don't remember using them much.

All these E.L.F. products were fine. I do remember really liking the Lock and Set performance wise, but if you accidently got it in your eye, that was it. It burned like no other, and then your eyes would water, and your makeup would be ruined. No surprise it was discontinued.

I actually still have that Face Secrets brush from Sally Beauty. It was my favorite for a long time, and I still use it regularly. The rest of those are long gone.

Lastly I used the shimmery Loreal through that summer, then decluttered it. I swapped between the Cover Girl and the Physicians Formula for a while. I do remember liking the Cover Girl as well. Do they still make this type of powder/brush combo??

*After some research I answered my own question, yes:

Loreal

The Cover Girl does still have a TruBlend Powder, but it's not the same.

I hope you had as much fun looking back on these old products as I did!

Craft Room Declutter #2

 Hey Y'all!

It's time for post number 2 of 4 in this declutter series. This one I got rather side tracked when I found a shoe box of beads and random craft items. I have no idea when/where they came from, they've just been floating around in here forever.

Finding that sparked me going through all my beads, and jewelry making storage.

Most everything in the mystery box ended up decluttered, it's nothing I would personally use, and again, I have no idea where it's from..

The shoe box of mystery items.

Sorting the mess!

Decided I may as well do them all.
This took far longer than I had anticipated.

In progress.

Making a bigger mess.. and making decisions.

Sorting, organizing, decluttering.

What I decluttered:
I can share more in depth if anyone is interested.

Back in place:
There is a 5th one there now that was sitting on my desk.

Next I did the cube closest to the door, I did some minor rearranging then sorted out the Cricut cartridges:

Decluttering these! (They are linked to my account.) I'm also letting go of my old Cricut Expression, since we now have reliable internet out here I don't use that machine anymore.

Keeping these, they were previously linked (bought used, or given to me).

I didn't get far, or declutter much this time, but next is my desk, and that's a real mess! Are you Spring cleaning yet? Let me know in the comment section below.

Have a great day,

Profusion Cosmetics (2 reviews in 1)

 Hey Y'all!

I've been doing well with my goal of wearing makeup just because. Yay me! I'm having a lot of fun playing around each day with different colors, and products.  I've really been getting to know Profusion Cosmetics as a brand, I had heard of them from time to time, but hadn't tried anything.

Here are some of my current favorites:

Profusion Love You So Brunch (Walmart Exclusive) is my current favorite palette. I've used it at least 3 times a week since I bought it. It does have a little bit of fallout in the pan, but stays on the (eyeshadow) brush just fine. The colors are easily applied, and well pigmented. I had no trouble blending, or layering colors. I'd recommend this if it's something your interested in, especially at the $10US price point.

On a whim I also purchased this  Juicy Lip Tint when I bought the palette. I had been looking for a new lip oil, but hadn't ventured to Ulta yet. This is hardly pigmented, but does give a hint of color. I was more interested in the moisturizing aspect than the color payoff of a lip oil. I like it so much I picked up the berry shade on a return trip (to Walmart), and it does have more visible color than the coral shade did on my lips. It's not the least bit sticky, but is very high shine. The doe foot applicator is the only draw back, it's just a bit too big. At $4US I'm willing to overlook that.

So far I'm liking what the brand has to offer, and can't wait to try more. What's your favorite Profusion product? What should I try next? Let me know in the comment section below!

Have a great day,

Craftin' Wife

* I personally purchased both these items, all opinions are my own. Profusion Cosmetics has no idea who I am, LOL.

Coloring!

  Hey Y'all!

I've been working on my coloring more lately, and have been using a variety of art mediums. So far I've been playing around with gel pens, alcohol markers, and colored pencils.

Flashbacks:

For this first image (Prima) I used Spectrum Noir Tri Blend markers. They are so fun and easy to use! My blending is something I'll continue to work on, but I like the markers. I like how easy they are to take with me, and how quickly you can color something. My only complaint was when popped apart they can be a bit harder to handle, because they are smaller.

The following lady image is from a set in a previous (years old) issue of a craft magazine. The bears are from Art Impressions. On these I used Gel Pens from Big Lots. They were very easy to work with, and had a fine enough tip for smaller lines. I did find the pens with glitter tend to glide more easily, and looked better than the others.

Today I worked on a coloring book image, comparing the differences between Spectrum Noir Basics Markers, and Tombow Colored Pencils without attempting to blend. I feel the image is to small to try that comparison. However I'd like to try it for an upcoming blog if it's something you're interested in. Let me know in the comment section below.

*It seems the Basics line from Spectrum Noir is no longer available on their website.

** Tombow 36pc Colored Pencil set was gifted to me, I won them in a Holiday Giveaway on Instagram.

Chosen Image, I drew the black line to get a halfway point.

Pencil Set.
Markers!

These pencils were so easy to use, and so much color variety! I especially love the way the sunflower turned out. I can't wait to play with them more. So much better than the Daler-Rowney pencils I've been using, and those are pretty good.

Above is no flash, below is with flash.

This set of markers had a lot of purples and pinks, and a few shades of red, green, yellow, and brown, but no blue or orange. I found that kind of odd. (I do have more markers from Spectrum Noir I'd like to test out against these as well as my other marker sets.) I like the vibrancy of the colors, but even the thinner tipped side of the marker is too thick for this kind of coloring.

I had fun testing them out, and like them all, however in the last image that colored pencil sunflower just stands out. What are your thoughts?

Would you like to see more marker or pencil comparisons in the future? Sound off below!

February Makeup Looks

 Hey Y'all!

I didn't do much makeup wise in February. It was cold, and I didn't go out much. I'm trying to change that mindset, I want to do my makeup for "no reason" more often. So far in March that's going well. I've always worn it for me, hubby doesn't have an opinion either way, but I have had the mindset that I'm "wasting" makeup if I'm not going somewhere, and that's just silly! It's something I enjoy so why not do it more often?

February Looks:

Natural Look.

I really like this red from Birchbox, it's L.O.C. in Color Me Confident. (It seems that shade no longer exists, and they only have a pink shade available now.) The formula is great, it's comfortable, glides on nicely and doesn't "slide" all over, or bleed.

FYI Skin has texture. ( I don't love this look, but I think we could all use the reminder that social media is edited to look as flawless as possible, and that's not real.)

Challenging myself to use cream products, on Valentine's Day. ( I don't have any cream eyeshadows, I've tried them before, not a huge fan.)
*No links here since most of this isn't currently available.

Trying something new on Valentine's Day worked out, one of my favorite looks for the month.

Love the hair, LOL!

Spoiler alert this lip color got decluttered. (Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick in Studded, currently in the process of being discontinued.) It was just yuck all over.

I do love this BH Cosmetics Truffle Blush in Chocolate Marshmallow, I used it for Bronzer, and  Vanilla Cherry for blush. It goes on so well, and is pigmented perfectly.

I wanted to try something new and got a little heavy handed mixing the Cover FX Glitter Drops (in Mirage) with my primer. Looked ok inside, but outdoors I felt looked a bit Edward in Twilight.

Meh.

The pictures above and below were taken the same day. I had to get a hair cut! First one post chemo! My hair was starting to stick straight up, and/or out. It's not curly like so many others post chemo, but it's so much thicker than it's ever been, with far more cowlicks. That's been fun to work around. Hopefully now it grows out a bit better.

Which look was your favorite? Share in the comments below!

Craft Room Declutter #1

 Hey Y'all!

It's time for out next Monday Series, Craft Room Declutter. I'm not going to do this one straight through like the previous declutter and organization series. I plan to add some variety between each declutter post. I think that's more interesting, and that way if declutters aren't your thing there is still something here every other Monday that may interest you more.

I'm starting off with a box of things I pulled randomly from the previous series (where I shared what was in each section of my craft room).

First off I sold 99% of my wood mount stamps. I found I never reach for them, and they were taking up too much space.

5 small to medium boxes of wood mount stamps!

Page kits, stickers, and more stamps.

Oh my!

Paper and foam pages.
Even more stamps,
Too much for one person to ever use, and some of these crafts I'm just not into any longer.

Buttons and do dads!

Punches and ink sprays.

Lots of washi tape here, and I kept a decent amount too.

A few paper pads.

That's the entire box! I don't know where the photo albums came from, but we never used them, so I don't need to keep hanging on to them.

These Glitter Glues  were all either dried out or separated and needed tossed. The Mod Podge was also dried out.

I got this chair from a vintage store this past weekend, and decided I didn't like the end tables in the center of the room any more, they took up too much free space and felt somewhat claustrophobic for me. (Stacked here until we finish the basement.)

Next I'll start really decluttering the drawers, however next weeks blog is about coloring (stamped) images. Wednesday's blog will be a  few mini reviews & my February makeup looks.

Have a great day,
