Updated Craft Room

 Hey Ya'll!

I think I finally have the craft room how I want it!

In this blog I'll share the current layout, in the next craft blog I start sharing whats in the storage drawers.

During quarantine I think I've rearranged this room 3 times, here's a look at it currently:

Right Side, from the entry to the room.

Left Side.

Desk area.

Mess, lol.

Cricut area.

New storage!

Bookshelves still need work, but that's a project for the future.

Middle of the room.

Can't wait to do the drawers tour! What are you most excited to see?

Have a great day,

Getting to Know Me, Crafting Questions

 Hey Ya'll!

I found this interesting questionnaire here:

Crafting Questions

I thought I'd share my answers to the relevant (to this platform) questions here!

 Section 3  Your craft

  1. What crafts have you tried? Scrapbooking, Cardmaking, Bows, Jewelry, Various Cricut Crafts, Party Decor, Crochet, Painting, Etc.

  2. Which is (are) your favourite(s) and why? Cricut crafting, and cards. Both just have a lot of space to be as creative as I want in a way I'm comfortable with.

  3. Which is (are) your least favourite(s) and why?  I like them all, but scrapbooking less so, simply because it's so time consuming, and I like a finish product within a limited time frame.

  4. Any you hated? Why? I don't think I've hated an entire craft category, maybe a specific project, but not the craft type overall.

  5. Which do you do on a regular basis? Cricut crafting, simply because it's so versatile. T-shirt, okay. Wood sign, done.  All within a few hours time.

  6. What did you do with any supplies you purchased for the crafts you didn't like? Either use them in a different way, or give them away.

  7. Do you have any crafty goals/New Years resolutions for yourself?  My crafty goal is to always learn new things. I never do New Years it seems so fake to me, you should always strive to be a better you, not just because it's New Year's and tradition tells you to make a "goal".

  8. What craft would you like to learn? I would like to get better at crochet!

  9. Have you ever done crafts for a company for payment (in kind or money)? For a company? No, that'd be a fun project opportunity

Section 4 Craft Classes

  1. Have you ever taken a craft class? What and where? If not, why not? No-ish. I've done free online craft classes, and you can also learn just about anything on YouTube. But I've not gone to any classes, I'm really not that social to begin with, plus time & money..

  2. Did you enjoy it? The online classes? Sure, not to sound conceded but I knew most of the information being taught.

  3. Have you ever taught a craft class (even informally)? Taught your kids? An actual class no. Other people? Yeah.

  4. Ever take a class you hated? Describe it. N/A

  5. Ever take a class where you knew more than the teacher and could have taught the class? Knew more than what was being taught yes.

  6. If you could take your dream class, what would the topic be, where would you take it and who would teach it?  Not that into classes, I'll stick to YouTube.

  7. Who would you like to teach your craft(s) to? This can be a dream like teaching a celebrity or more realistic like teaching friends or family. I've shown a few people how to do stuff, the only one remotely interested is my niece. I'd show her anything she wanted to know.

  8. How would you teach your craft(s)? (In person, online, video, written tutorial etc...) Would you create a project or just practice techniques? In person, and both.. I find it easier to learn by doing, so you'd have a finished project at the end.

  9. Have you ever been to a craft convention or festival? Yes, it wasn't as "cool" as I expected, but it was local..

  10. How do you learn best? By doing/seeing.

  11. If you could choose how long a class would be, it would be____? Less than an hour per class.

Section 5  Travel and Crafting

  1. Do you take any crafts with you when you travel (anything from waiting room at the doctors to airplane travel)? If so, what and if not, why not? I used to but found I was so busy with other things on vacation, or didn't want to drag the mess out to put away in a few minutes while waiting so I rarely bother anymore.

  2. Does what you take with you differ depending on the type of travel? Now if I take anything it's usually just a coloring book with either colored pencils or markers.

  3. Have you ever traveled somewhere specifically to visit a particular shop, take a class or go to a craft convention? Nope.

  4. Do you look up stores near to your vacation destinations?  Sometimes, depends on where we're going.

  5. Ever have trouble with crafts while traveling? Messes, issues at airport?  We don't fly, we enjoy the journey of driving (plus it cost way less). Never had any issues, just hate dragging it all out to only craft a few minutes and clean it all up again.

  6. Ever met with a crafting friend or met a new crafting friend while on vacation? No.

Section 6  How You Craft at Home

  1. How much time do you spend crafting? Depends on what I'm working on, and if I'm in the mood to craft.

  2. Where do you craft? In the craft room. Occasionally in the living room, but that's generally crochet.

  3. What time of day do you craft? Anytime.

  4. Do you wish you could spend more time crafting? How much would be enough? I have the luxury of spending as much time as I want, but I do wish I spent more time in here (the craft room/my office).

  5. Do you let other things slide to make time for crafting? I don't think so.

  6. Do you craft while you do something else? (watch TV, listen to music) Usually YouTube, either vlogs or music, simply because you don't have to completely see what's going on to know what's happening.

  7. Is this a permanent space, a temporary space or one you set up each time you craft? It's my craft room, but different things get moved around depending on what I'm working on.

  8. Are you organized? Now I am, but it's usually an ebb and flow between not being able to sufficiently work in here and complete organization.

  9. What types of storage do you use? Plastic carts mostly, and an old dresser that is my cricut easy press station and stores vinyl & blanks.

  10. Do you wish you had more space? Doesn't everyone?

  11. Do you need to destash/reorganize? I just did a good size purge (donated it to a local non profit) and organized again.

  12. Describe your dream space? You could send a photo if you already have it!  I'll post a blog soon of my current space and organization. What I'd like is higher quality and larger storage. That's being real, in a dream room it'd be better storage, and larger, and a separate work desk.

  13. Does anyone in your home craft with you? Who and what do you do together? If no, who do you wish would craft with you? No. I like to craft with my niece, but in general I'm happy to craft alone. I'm glad we all have our own hobbies. (Hubby's is computers/gaming, Sis paints, etc..)

  14. Does anyone in your home steal your craft supplies (for crafts or other household use)? Usually just tape, on occasion pens or markers.

  15. Do you ever make things to sell? How do you sell them? Give us a few examples of what you charge on average. I do custom orders currently, through FB and word of mouth. Obviously it depends on what it is as to how much I (or anyone) charge.

  16. Do you use what you make? Gift it? Give it away to charity? Stash it? Something else? Use or gift are the top two. If it's not for those reasons I don't generally make it.

  17. Do you use your craft to make gifts? For what occasions? Yes, any occasion, just like most gifts.

  18. Do you think people really appreciate what you make (whether they just see what you make or you give it to them)? I would hope so.

  19. Does anyone else in your family or who lives with you craft or have crafty type hobbies? Getting a bit repetitive now aren't we??

Section 7 Reading and Internet

  1. Do you buy magazines about your craft? Rarely.

  2. Do you buy/borrow books about your craft? Hardly ever.

  3. Do you read blogs or visit internet sites about your craft? Again, rarely.

  4. Is this mainly for inspiration or to learn? Both.

  5. Do you have a blog? If so, what do you post and how often do you post? Please give us a link. If not, why not? If you had a blog, what would you call it? What would you post? Obvie, you're reading it...

  6. Do you enter any contests online? For a craft challenge or for prizes? Ever win? Yes, those are fun. I've only one once 7 or 8 yrs ago, the prize was a bunch of crafting supplies! I still use a lot of them today.

  7. Do you ever look up instructions for your crafts? If I'm stuck, or have a die I can't remember how to piece together, yeah .

  8. Whose work do you admire? So many, just look up crafting on Instagram, or YouTube tons of fantastic creators.

  9. How long do you spend doing crafty things on the internet? Depends on the day.

  10. How long do you spend reading crafty magazines (paper or online)? Online? Never. Paper, maybe 30min every 3 months.

  11. Do you think paper magazines are becoming a thing of the past? Somewhat.

  12. Do you subscribe to any magazines? In what format? Again repetitive... I've said no.

  13. How many crafty books do you own? Quite a few, but I rarely reach for any of them.

  14. How often do you buy crafty books and where? Close to never, and usually at a thrift shop if I do.

Section 8  Shopping

  1. Where do you shop for supplies? All your major American retailers, and occasionally an odd shop I come across, or a website that's AD pops up.

  2. Ever shop online? If so, where and for what? If not, why not? Yes, mostly for stamps, vinyl, or SVG's.

  3. Favourite shops? See #1.

  4. What do you spend on crafting? Per???? Day? Week? Month? Craft? It depends on what's on sale and/or what I'm working on.

  5. Ever gone into debt to buy crafty items or things for your crafting space? No, that's just stupid.

  6. Do you save money by making things you'd otherwise buy? Yes, but also no. At the retail price I'd never buy the item, so if I craft it and even if the supplies are in my stash I still spent money on it.

  7. Ever buy craft supplies at a garage sale or second-hand sale? All the time.

  8. Ever have supplies donated to you? Nope.

  9. Ever donate supplies to a charity? Yes.

  10. What was your most expensive purchase? My cricut, hubby got it for me one year for Christmas (Black Friday).

Section 9 Crafty Thoughts?

  1. What motivates you to craft? Seeing something I want to make for home, or someone else.

  2. How long is too long without crafting? IDK. It depends on what you are trying to do, and how much time you have.

  3. How do you feel if you can't craft for a while? Perfectly fine. It is what it is.

  4. Do you ever get frustrated crafting? Sure, weeding intricate designs can be difficult.

  5. Have you ever lost your mojo (lost desire to craft or lack inspiration or hate everything you make)? Yeah, that's life.

  6. Ever had a long period of time when you had to quit crafting? Why? How Long? 1) Work 80 bajillion hours a day, 2) Sick There were a few years I barely crafted at all.

  7. Ever thought about quitting? Entirely? No. It's part of who I am.

  8. Can you imagine a life without crafts? See above.

  9. Ever get angry at how someone spoke about your crafts (like putting it down, calling it home ec-y)? No, that's their opinion. I do get peeved when people call crafting cheap, 'cause that's simply not true.

  10. Ever argue with someone you live with about the amount of time, space or money dedicated to your crafts? Never, we support each other 100%.

  11. How does swapping make you feel? What do you get out of it? I've hardly done any swapping, but enjoyed when I did. It's fun to get new things, and get inspiration from that as to how you'll use the items. I'd like to do more swaps.

  12. Anything ever threaten your ability to craft (physical, situational)? I mean duh. If you're reading this you know. A good portion of this blog is about my Endometrial Cancer.

  13. How do you feel when you gift something you have made? Awesome, and a bit nervous hoping they like it.

As you can probably tell I started getting a little aggravated at the questions towards the end. Glad I finished it up, and you all got to know my crafty side a bit more.

Do you craft? What are your hobbies? Share in the comments below!

Have a great day,

Life Update~ July - Aug 10th

 Hey Ya'll!!

So far summer has been rainy, and HOT!

I finished up chemo, then we went on a mini vacation to visit family in Indiana. (To respect their privacy I won't be sharing pics of our trip, too many minors involved.)

We had a good time, and it would have been nice to have had a longer trip. We are going to try to plan something longer for next year, hopefully they can come here!

July 4th we chilled at home, the 5th we went out to my sister's and had dinner & fireworks.

I asked at last chemo and was told I had to wait 3 weeks on the dietary restrictions, so ASAP we took my sisters kids out to sushi since they like it and neither my sister or brother-in-law do. So yummy!

We were finally able to get all the donations out of the house, and clear up the entry way. YAY!

Spent time w/ my family, and just hanging out together at home.

On the 21st I had my CT scan, the prep drink was the grossest thing I've ever drank in my life, absolutely horrible! IT was supposedly orange flavored, but who knows. All I know is it was a struggle to keep down.

Then we waited...one very long week for the results. During that time we all (sister, niece, mom, and I) painted Mom's kitchen, while the guys worked on her Laundry Room floor.

Tuesday the 28th I had my check up, port flush, and CT results......

I am N.E.D. (No Evidence of Disease)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hallelujah!!

From now on it's port flushes every 6 weeks, and scans/check ups every 3mo for 3 yrs, then every 6mo for an additional 2 years.

Lastly, to finish this up Chris started work today! It's been weird being here by myself today. Quarantine pretty much started right after my 1st chemo, so I was lucky and didn't have to be alone for any of it. Hard to believe that's been 5mo!

Hope you're all well! Thanks for letting me share my life with you!

Have a great day,

~Craftin'Wife

Declutter Series #6~ Every Day Shelf, Final Stats

 Hey Ya'll!

We've reached the end! Part 6!

The final product on the everyday shelf, and the final stats overall.

Shelf:

My eyebrows and lashes are coming back slowly! The eyeko eyebrow pen has been fantastic in helping me feel less "alien". The Gimme Brow from benefit is helpful now that I have some brows to work with! The mascaras are in here simply so I know what's currently open. Hopefully I can use them up before they are bad.

Close ups!
The floss eye shadow single I got in July Birchbox. It's a nice color & formula, and I'll keep in on hand for a while, but I really don't do single shadows.

There has been a new lip stick added here. Juvia's Place, In Vogue. My sister got it for me for completing chemo!

So glad that's finished!

Now for the overall stats:

I kept 75.54% of my collection.

55.1% of my collection is lipsticks/glosses/etc.

I decluttered 24.46% of my makeup!

Have you done a declutter recently? How'd it go? Share in the comments below!

If you have any pictures share with me on instagram (@craftinwife).

Have a great day,

Declutter Series #5~ Brushes and Every Day Shelf (Part 1)

Hey Ya'll!

Part 5 of 6 in this series! Makeup Brushes and Decluttering the everyday shelf!

Brushes before:

Not liking them all in a drawer. It's too hard to find what I need, and felt like a waste of space. This is where the availability for the second eye shadow drawer came from.

New storage! (Actually meant for plants, from TJ Maxx.)

Decluttered:
These are brushes I just didn't like.

These are all the everyday shelf before/in progress:

Close ups:

Gotta make a mess to make progress.... or at least I do.

Progress being made:
Both single eye shadows were decluttered, I never reach for singles. The liquid was too old, as was the 2 sticks beside it.

More progress:

Lipstick Mountain:

More palettes, all kept:

What was on the shelf:

Getting there:

Work in progress:

The beginning of the palette section:

More Lipsticks???:

Declutters from the day:
These were counted over all, but not for previous blogs...
All of this was just too old, and i didn't get to using it up.

In the final blog I'm going to share the finished Everyday Shelf, all products there have also been counted in the total declutter. I will share the final numbers there.

Has this series inspired you to do a declutter? Share in the comments below!

Have a great day,

Declutter Series #4~ Lipsticks

 Hey Ya'll!

In this fourth installment I'm decluttering all my lip products, I knew I had to declutter a bit more here, lets see how it went!

The Lip Drawer:

I found more, and added them to the color they belonged. (This still doesn't include the everyday shelf.)

Lip Smackers:
All ended up decluttered, after looking at a few they just felt "off".

Oranges:
Top row are keeps, bottom are declutters.

Purples:
Bottom four are decluttered here.

Reds:
Probably should have been a bit more cut throat here, again bottom 4 are decluttered.

Nudes:
The 7 at the bottom are decluttered.

Pinks:
Very bottom row are decluttered from here.

Browns:
One declutter here.

Misc, Blues & Greens:
Two gone from this category.

This stays! I just wish it was easier to travel with the color I've created for the day.

I think I could have been more brutal in my declutters here, especially in the reds & purples, but I'm sure I'll have more next time.

Declutter Series #3~ "Face" Products

 Hey Y'all!

Time for part 3 of our series! It's been far too long since I've gone through any of the products from this drawer.

Peep the nail polish declutter trying to sneak in.

Before:

Prep, and finishing/setting products:

Declutters in this pic are the upside down products (NYX and E.L.F. Setting Sprays, and the Derma Blend). All of them were past expiration.

Eyeliners, Brows, & Mascaras:

Swatches to justify keeping all 4.

Decluttered these:
The 2 Ulta liners I just don't like, the rest is just far too old.

Highlight:

Decluttered:
All too old/expired.

Blushes:

Decluttered:
I always forget about this one, and have rarely used it, but it's been around for way to long.

Palettes:

Decluttered:
The Balm Highlite 'n Con Tour is actually pretty good, but it'd getting on the older side and I just don't reach for it enough to keep around.
The Physicians Formula I passed onto a local shelter since they were brand new, but I didn't think I'd get to them quick enough to use up.
The others are older, and I have other stuff I like better.

There are a few more products that are counted, but not pictured, they are on my everyday shelf.
