Where we're from.
Met, married, live.
Since hubby and I are from two different states, and live in a third (for the past 10yrs) I thought the idea of combining these pins seemed appropriate.
Using an old atlas & my Slice die cut machine, I cut out our states shapes from the corresponding state map. (You could use hearts, or people like the pins, or any other shape would also work.)
Then I chose a background paper, and adhered each state to the paper using my ATG. Next I stamped the "you, me, and love" on the background. (I don't have an "Us" stamp!!?!) Lastly I slid each one into frames I got from the thrift store, putting our current home state in the gold frame.
This would also be cute adapted for a family whose kids were born in different states/countries.
In total this took me about an hour if I take off the time for technical issues with the Slice. (The map paper was too thin and it wanted to tear rather than cut, then needed a blade replacement.)
(Would you like to see a cost breakdown of these crafty posts?)
All the supplies for this particular craft I already had.
I did purchase the atlas for this specific reason a few weeks ago, for $1.00.but only used 6 (front and back side since I cut through the maps) of the 138 pages, broken down that equals 5cents!
The paper pad I bought on clearance for $1.00 it contains 50 sheets, I used two. So cost breakdown on that is 4 cents.
Obviously I used other supplies, but the cost breakdown from them is equal or less than the above.
Awesome!
This is the last blog for August. My next blog will be September's Monthly Schedule on Monday, the 1st.
Have a great day.
