Hair Do-Dad's

 Hey Ya'll!

This was a harder realization than I thought it was going to be:

My hair isn't going to be long enough for any "cute" little do-dad's, or any sort of rubber band, pony tail holder, scrunchie, etc. for a very, very long time. Most likely a year or more for just the little clippie types, far longer for other stuff. I didn't really ever think that far ahead before now. So I decided now's a good time to clean out that drawer in the bathroom. A lot of it will get thrown away, the rubber band style I'll give to my Mom, and the niece is really into scrunchies currently, so she'll get those.

The Drawer:

What it looked like starting out.

What I kept.

TRASH!

Stuff for Mom, plus a few more hair ties I found laying around here and there.

Finally, the stuff for my niece & sister.

I remember giving all the newer hair ties away when chemo first started, but I didn't touch this drawer at the time. If there's stuff in here they don't want to keep that's fine, I just figured why not put some of it to use again rather than pitching it all.

I also found a few broches I though were misplaced, a brand new deodorant, and 5 razor refills. ( I use Schick Intuition, and have for years.)

It was nice to finally get this drawer cleaned out, it obviously needed it, but it was a bit odd coming to the realization that 90% of this (and items like them) I won't need/ be able to use for years.

What's in your hair accessories drawer? Let me know in the comments below.

Craft Room Storage Section #4

 Hey Ya'll!

We've made it halfway, and arrived on my desk. It's not the most organized, but a far more workable space than it was. I use my desk as my primary crafting space, as well as all things computer related.

The picture quality is the best, it was very sunny, and I took them in a hurry. (Procrastinate much?!)

My cricut tools, Ott Light, and trash. (Just got a new solution for the trash, I've yet to implement.)

More of the aforementioned Ott Light, and all my Glimmer Mists.

My Cricut!!!
Part of the workspace/mess.

All of my sizzix dies, embossing folders, beads, ink pads, etc. (if you have any questions about anything here just ask in the comments below.)

The other side of my desk, my Sizzix & (finally, a printer I don't hate! Sorry, not sorry Kodak.) HP Envy Pro printer.

The beginning of the monster that is under this desk.

We'll tackle what's in these in the next blog!

September Birchbox

 Hey Ya'll!

I really enjoyed this month's birchbox. I did get to choose one of the items this time, and I picked NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Shine Clarifying Scalp Scrub. The whole box was good this time, and they were doing a bingo game for the 10th anniversary.

The box & bingo card.

Close up.

Bingo!!

The products:

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Shine Clarifying Scalp Scrub~ I'm glad I chose this, it seems to be helping, my scalp has been so flaky and dry post chemo. I don't know how well I'd recommend to someone with longer hair &/or mobility issues, I imagine it'd be a bit difficult to rinse it all out. It lathers, which surprised me, and has little micro beads , so don't scrub too hard!

JUARA Candlenut Hydrating Shower Gel~ This is a nice scent for anyone, it's neither alarmingly masculine or feminine, like so many bodywash brands tend to be. I also really liked that it was hydrating without being "oily" feeling.

[ comfort zone ] Hydramemory Mask~ I like that this is a quick mask (3min) and it still preforms really well. It made my skin feel moisturized all day.

Georgette Klinger Collagen Elastin Moisturizer~ Sorry, haven't tried it yet so I don't know. I do look forward to giving it a try.

ARROW Color Enhancing Lip Balm~ I like these fine, and they do the job of a lip balm well.  I understand that Arrow is birchbox's own brand, but I hope now that I have all 3 variations that I quit getting this specific product.

Benefit Cosmetics Lovetint Fiery Red Lip & Cheek Stain~ I'm not generally a fan of stain type products, but this one is nice (benefit does do staining products best). I'm sure I'll pass it along to my niece with caution since she's still young and new to makeup.

What do you think? Any of your favorite products in this month's box? What would you like to try? Share in a comment below!

Craft Room Storage Section #3

 Hey Ya'll!

Onto part #3 of what is probably going be 8 by the time we finish. Today's section is the randomly filled set of drawers that sit to the right of my desk, between it & the Cricut Station. You'll see. Now that I have the layout and accessibility the way I want I really need to go through these drawers and re-organize/declutter. Maybe next series..

The cart hubby bought me on clearance years ago from Michael's, it was insanely cheap because it was open box, and missing the wheels. It's served it's purpose for me without issue.

Random stickers, and gift wrapping tape.

I need to see if this Zazz glitter glue from American Craft's is still good.

So much washi! I need to use this more often.

Embellishments, I do believe most are Recollection's from Michael's.

Stamps, no longer in any sort of order at all.

More stamps.

Even more stamps, mostly Disney here.

Odd shaped paper pads, and other random items.

Various wood blanks I had totally forgot I had until taking these pics.

Soap making items.

Junk corner! A box of beads I found when cleaning up, that I've yet to open. My largest Xyron has no home...yet.
An older Cricut, Full Jukebox, and Cuttlebug (with dies) that I need to sell since I've upgraded.

Some other things I'm working on finish up this little section. Writing this blog made me realize how much I need to go through these drawers! It's long overdue.

September Everyday Makeup Shelf

 Hey Ya'll!

Today I'm sharing my monthly update for my everyday makeup shelf. There were a few changes from last month, and a few items got decluttered!

These products got pulled. I didn't reach for the Sleek highlight palette the whole month of August, so I don't need it. That's going to be the rule going forward for items I pull for the everyday shelf. If I don't use it it gets decluttered!
The floss eye shadow single was fine, but I don't really do singles. I did use it twice just to review it for birchbox, and get to know the brand/formula. (As I stated, it's okay , nothing fabulous, but not bad.)

The drawer overall.

Eye shadows/Palettes. I've pulled a lot of Juvia's Place here, it's a new(er) to me brand. I've loved everything I've tried from them thus far.
I've also pulled a Too Faced palette that was a HSN exclusive, also called Pumpkin Spice, however it's completely different than the current release.
After that I thought I'd need some darker colors in the mix and added the BH Cosmetics SuperNova, and (no longer available) Pride & Prejudice & Zombies palettes.
Lastly I knew I needed some more nude-ish colors and added the new Revlon WW palette, and Lorac's Santa Monica as well as Venice Beach.
Overall I'm happy with the variety I've put up here for this month. What would you keep, or do without here?

Lipsticks! So many great ones, some new, and some that need revisited. Lot's of different brands, some I'm trying for the first time. If you have any questions about a product, ask below in the comments, and I'll get back to you ASAP. There are around 40 pulled here I added a few new ones, but kept the same from last month. I've made a promise to myself if I don't use it at least once by the end of October I don't need it. I don't do makeup everyday so I think that's a reasonable goal. I should probably pull out some I've already worn and like. What would you do?

Mascara, eyeliner & brows! I've already decided I'm not a huge fan of the Benefit Gimme Brow, it's not bad, just a little to stiff for my liking. I'll use it until I can get some clear brow gel. I'm just excited to finally be using mascara again!

From above, continuing in this picture: Blushes, Highlights, and Bronzers, as well as lip balms & face products. A few got put away, and a few different ones were added. There's a decent amount here, so the rule from before applies, if it doesn't get used this month it gets decluttered.

That's everything for this month! What would you like to try? Do you see any of your favorites here? Share below!

Craft Room Storage Section #2

 Hey Ya'll!

We are onto section two of my craft room storage, my "cricut station".  It consists of a rolling cart, that houses overflow vinyl, as well as current work(s) in progress.  The other component to this section is an old dresser, it's ugly, but it's the perfect height for heat pressing items.

Little purple rolling rack.

Easy Press Station. (We used to have horrible internet, so I've kept this Cricut Expression machine around for times it would be out or extremely slow.)

Rolling rack top shelf currently has permanent vinyl overflow, however I'll probably move that to the free drawer from the previous blog. Then I can use this top shelf to hold current supplies I'm working with.

Next is my Minc, and it's accessories, as well as some items I've yet to find a home for.

Lastly on the rolling rack is a few items I'm working with currently. I'm trying to teach myself how to read crochet patterns, and not just make up my own.

Ugly drawer #1 holds all "regular" vinyls. (Permanent, Removable, Window Cling, etc.)

This drawer houses all my HTV. Mostly Cricut & Siser brands.

#3 holds all fabric and wood blanks. Shirts, totes, towels, etc.

Lastly is all drink ware blanks. (The carrots are my personal item, I know what I'm doing with it, just haven't got around to it, since Spring is quite a while from now.)

This section is by far my favorite nook in my craft room! Endless possibilities here.

What would you like to see me make? Sound off below!
Also if you want to know where I got an item, just ask in the comments below, I'll respond ASAP.

Have a great day,

Awareness Month

Hey Ya'll!

September is Gynecological Cancer(s) awareness month. I'm focusing on Endometrial Cancer, since that's what I've battled with.

First of I think all people with a womb should know that your regular pap isn't enough, and there are other screening available, but you must advocate for yourself.

"At this time, there are no screening tests or exams to find endometrial cancer early in women who are at average endometrial cancer risk and have no symptoms."

"Women should also talk to their doctors about getting regular pelvic exams. A pelvic exam can find some cancers, including some advanced uterine cancers, but it's not very useful for finding early endometrial cancers.

Screening tests used for cervical cancer, such as a Pap test or HPV (human papillomavirus) test aren’t effective tests for endometrial cancer. The Pap test, which screens women for cervical cancer, can sometimes find some early endometrial cancers, but it’s not a good test for this type of cancer. "

"Ultrasound is often one of the first tests used to look at the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes in women with possible gynecologic problems."

You should also know about the risk factors:

"We don't yet know exactly what causes most cases of endometrial cancer, but we do know there are risk factors, like obesity and hormone imbalance, that are strongly linked to this cancer."

"Although certain factors can increase a woman's risk for endometrial cancer, they don't always cause the disease. Many women with risk factors never develop endometrial cancer.

Some women with endometrial cancer don't have any known risk factors. Even if a woman with endometrial cancer has one or more risk factors, there's no way to know which, if any, of them caused her cancer.

Many factors affect the risk of developing endometrial cancer, including:

  • Obesity
  • Things that affect hormone levels, like taking estrogen after menopause, birth control pills, or tamoxifen; the number of menstrual cycles (over a lifetime), pregnancy, certain ovarian tumors, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
  • Use of an intrauterine device (IUD)
  • Age
  • Diet and exercise
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Family history (having close relatives with endometrial or colorectal cancer)
  • Having had breast or ovarian cancer in the past
  • Having had endometrial hyperplasia in the past
  • Treatment with radiation therapy to the pelvis to treat another cancer

Some of these, like pregnancy, birth control pills, and the use of an intrauterine device are linked to a lower risk of endometrial cancer, while many are linked to a higher risk."

Then what?

"When a woman experiences concerning symptoms, a pelvic exam, including a rectovaginal exam, and a general physical should be performed. If the exam is abnormal or she presented for abnormal vaginal bleeding, the woman should undergo an endometrial biopsy, an ultrasound and/or a D&C (dilation and curettage) procedure.

If endometrial cancer is suspected or diagnosed, it is important to seek care first from a gynecologic oncologist—medical doctors with specialized training in treating gynecologic cancers who can manage your care from diagnosis to completion of treatment."

"Endometrial cancer may be treated with surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or hormonal therapy. Depending on your situation, your treatment team may recommend using a combination of therapies to treat your cancer.

All treatments for endometrial cancer have side effects, but most side effects can be managed or avoided. Treatment may affect various aspects of your life, including your function at work, home, intimate relationship, and deeply personal thoughts and feelings.

Before beginning treatment, it is important to learn about the possible side effects and talk with your treatment team members about your feelings or concerns. They can prepare you for what to expect and tell you which side effects should be reported to them immediately. They can also help you find ways to manage the side effects that you experience."

(Linked above)

After treatment:

"The frequency of exams, imaging, and blood tests varies because of many factors. Typically, you will be followed every 3 to 6 months for the first 2-5 years with at least an examination of the vagina and rectum to detect any recurrences early at the most curable stage. These examinations will occur less frequently thereafter. In addition, imaging studies such as x-rays, CT scans, or MRIs may be periodically performed, especially if you have any new pains or symptoms."
