Basement Declutter and Organization: Progress Report

 Hey Y'all!

First, a reminder of where we started:

https://craftinwifescreations.blogspot.com/2023/02/basement-plans-current-pictures.html

We worked on the basement one full weekend, and overdid it a bit, so we took the next weekend off.

So far the "basement" side is 99% of the way there, and we haven't touched the "downstairs" side yet. (We'll be starting there this weekend.)

Here's a bit of our progress in pictures:

Testing station, windows unblocked, storage for ebay, etc.

The metal garage shelving racks from Sam's Club (still in boxes here). Surprisingly easy to put together!

...Also doing laundry.

In front of the garage door is all trash, then making a bigger mess to organize. Fun times!

Storage section 2!

These racks are what we had, and they do not hold up well, one of them collapsed and fell in the pool just before Fall. Plus we didn't have enough to go around the room.

I haven't taken any pictures of the progress since the first day. I feel like we accomplished a lot- got the tool box, and freezer moved, the storage solutions for this side all built & figured out, the testing area, and shipping station set up, and the desk cleared off. We still have to build a unit for our personal storage (holiday items, seasonal storage, and such). However that will go on the other side, against the wall next to the door.

That other side is the bigger project,  much more there that really has to be gone through, sorted, etc.

We're more than ready to get the entire basement back in order though, and excited to really use the space again!

Have a great day,
Craftin' Wife

March Everyday Makeup Shelf & Feb Mini Review

 Hey Y'all!

This time I'm going to start with the review from last month's Everyday Shelf:

http://craftinwifescreations.blogspot.com/2023/01/february-everyday-makeup-shelf-january.html

I did my best to wear each lipstick/lip product at least once, but I'm pretty sure I missed on the darker purple KVD shade.

I did end up having to cut the container on the Flower Beauty at the end of the month (a few days ago). I have enough to finish it off tomorrow ( I have a CT scan, but I got Berry this time & not the disgusting Orange contrast!)

I really like the Subculture palette, it's a much deeper color story than I tend to go for. The quality is nice though, and it's easy to work with.

I didn't end up using the super shock shadows at all in February, but I do love them, they just didn't make it into any looks.

Now, onto what I've pulled for March:

The Norvina palettes are new to me (T.J. Maxx find), I did factor in that they're very purple/blue heavy, with a few pops of other colors, so I added two small, more nude, Too Faced palettes as well. I've used the I.B.Y. face palette before, and I know I really like it.

The e.l.f. face mist is new too, we'll see how I like it, it was a Ross find.
The mascara (Wet 'n Wild) is purple, and I though that's be great for the eyeshadows I've chosen.

I pulled less lip products this time, and now I'm not so sure about the pink shade. However, I'll challenge myself to use them all this month.

I challenge you to chose an item this month that you wouldn't normally pick/pair! What are you choosing? Share in the comments below!

How-To: Melt & Pour Soaps

 Hey Y'all!

Melt & Pour really is as easy as it sounds!

Bunny Bums!

Materials:

Soap Base (Clear or white work best if adding color.)

Soap Mold (I like silicone molds best.)

Optional:

Fragrance

Essential Oil(s)

Soap Colorant

*All these materials can be found at most craft retailers. My Base, & Colorant are Hobby Lobby, Oil was (Lavender) from Michael's, and my Soap Mold is actually an ice tray from Dollar Tree.

Step 1-

Cut off a cube (or more) and prepare to melt it.

(I used the mid section 4 cubes (with the hole). This yielded four little soaps.)

2-

The directions on this base (Art Minds) suggest the microwave method.  30 seconds, and then 10 second intervals, until melted. OR a double boiler on the stove, low heat until melted. (Stir, throughout the process.)

3-

Add color, and fragrance as preferred. Stir!

(I was going for a more purple shade, so really should have added a few more drops of red.)

4-

Pour into mold, and let cool. (Directions said 40min, but I find a few hours to work best.)

Note: You really have to work quickly when adding other items, the soap starts to cool very quickly.!

5-

Remove soaps from mold, store & use as you would most bar soaps.

Bonus, any mess I had made worked perfectly for cleaning the microwave & counters. The kitchen smell great!

Have a great day,

Books! What I've Read This Month

 Hey Y'all!

So, I did finish the first book in the Orphan Train Trilogy, and it was heavily Christian themed and a bit preachy*, but the story was good. The second book (All My Tomorrows) was even better, I did take awhile to pick it up after finishing the first, and I have just started the third (Whispers in the Wind).

*I typically don't mind a Christian themed book, and enjoy the Christian romance novels, but this is VERY Christian themed.

This month, other then the aforementioned books, I've also been reading/skimming these:

Women's Health, it just keeps coming y'all.

Tennessee & Knoxville visitors guides- We have visitors coming in April, and that's the perfect reason to explore our own state! I haven't flipped through these much yet, but I have time.

Miriam B. Loos Cookbooks- I have a thing for vintage cookbooks, though I rarely make a recipe from them. I found this set at the Am Vet's Thrift store for .75c! The illustrations in these are fantastic!

Paul Mitchell, The Cutting Book- also from the same Am Vet's Thrift Store. (Couldn't find it anywhere to link.) I may also have a thing for cosmetology books. This one is specifically haircut how-to's and it's interesting to see how style & techniques change over time.

Bathroom Declutter & Clean Up (Hair/Skincare)

 Hey Y'all!

As I was prepping and cleaning out the closet, which admittedly did need a bit of reorganization, I realized it hadn't been that long since I'd done the declutter in the bathroom. While it needed some cleaning up, there was nothing to declutter.

Previous Bathroom Clean Up Blogs:

https://craftinwifescreations.blogspot.com/2022/08/clean-declutter-my-makeup-brushes.html

I'm liking the face/eye separation, and the separate space for dirty brushes is working out well. This all looks the same, other than a few brushes in the dirty section. I don't see it changing for the foreseeable future.

https://craftinwifescreations.blogspot.com/2022/08/hair-care-clean-up-nothing-to-declutter.html

This section also stayed the same, for the most part. It just needed a bit of cleaning up as well, same with the link below (closet).

https://craftinwifescreations.blogspot.com/2022/09/clean-with-me-bathroom-closet.html

All cabinets, and drawers:

https://craftinwifescreations.blogspot.com/2022/10/update-bathroom-clean-up.html

This time, I just reorganized a bit:

Closet before~

After-
Towels, and misc on the first shelf.
Hand towels, wash cloths, hair towels, and shampoo/conditioner, as well as perfume back stocks on the middle shelf.
Top shelf holds TP, lightbulbs, soap, and body wash back stock.

Hair styling products-
I could probably spend some more time with this under the sink area.

Skincare drawer:

Before~

After-

Not much changed, but it's in a bit better order. Looking for a good facial cleanser.... Any suggestions? Leave them in the comments below!

Have a great day,
