Beginner Cricut Joy Card Tutorial

Beginner Cricut Joy Card Tutorial: Make a Handmade Greeting Card in Minutes!

Hey crafty friends!

Amanda here, your Craftin’ Wife, excited to share a super simple and fun project perfect for Cricut Joy owners — making your own personalized greeting cards! The Cricut Joy is such a compact, user-friendly machine, and making cards is one of its best features.

Whether you want to send birthday wishes, say thank you, or just brighten someone’s day, this tutorial will have you crafting beautiful cards with ease.

What You’ll Need:

  • Cricut Joy machine

  • Cricut Joy Card Mat (specifically designed for card making)

  • Cardstock (4.25” x 5.5” standard size cards)

  • Cricut Design Space software

  • Pen (optional, for writing inside your card)

  • Accessories like envelopes, stickers, or embellishments (optional)

Step 1: Choose Your Card Design

Open Cricut Design Space and select “Make Cards.” There are tons of pre-designed card templates available for Cricut Joy — from simple text greetings to intricate cut-out patterns. Pick one that suits your occasion or mood!

Step 2: Customize Your Card

If you want, customize the text or add your own images. For beginners, sticking to a simple “Happy Birthday” or “Thank You” is a great start.

Step 3: Prepare Your Card Mat and Cardstock

Place your blank card on the Cricut Joy Card Mat, lining it up carefully according to the mat instructions. This special mat holds your card securely while the Cricut Joy works its magic.

Step 4: Load and Cut

Load the mat into your Cricut Joy, then hit “Make” in Design Space. The Joy will cut or draw your design on the front of the card perfectly.

Step 5: Add Personal Touches

Once your card is done, you can use a Cricut pen to write a message inside or add your own stickers, glitter, or other decorations.

And there you have it — a beautiful handmade card, personalized by you, made in minutes with your Cricut Joy!

Cards like these make heartfelt gifts even more special, and they’re so easy to whip up whenever inspiration strikes.
