Beauty Q&A with the Craftin’ Wife: Road Life, Real Talk & Radiance

Beauty Q&A with the Craftin’ Wife: Road Life, Real Talk & Radiance

Hey beautiful friends!

Amanda here — your Craftin’ Wife — and today I’m answering some of the most common (and fun!) questions I get about keeping up with beauty routines while living full-time on the road.

Yes, it is possible to stay glam in an RV — with a little creativity, the right tools, and a good sense of humor. So let’s dive in!

💄 Q: How do you store your makeup in such a tiny space?

A: It’s all about compact storage and being super intentional! I use a small clear bag for my daily go-tos and seasonal items. I also love makeup bags with built-in brush holders. Everything has a home, and I keep it simple — if I don’t use it regularly, it doesn’t stay in the RV. My "big" makeup case is a vintage travel case, all the things I take are kept in it. and I change some things out seasonally when we return to TN for doctors appts.

🌞 Q: Do you still wear full face makeup every day?

A: Nope — I’m all about a functional glow. Most days I go for a tinted SPF, and mascara. It’s quick, fresh, and doesn’t melt off in the summer heat! On special days or content filming days, I love going full glam — glitter cut crease, anyone?

🚿 Q: How do you take off your makeup without wasting water?

A: Makeup remover wipes and micellar water are my BFFs! I keep a little stack of reusable makeup pads and use a no-rinse cleanser most nights. On shower days, I’ll double-cleanse properly, but daily? It’s quick, efficient, and water-friendly.

🌬️ Q: Does the weather affect your skincare?

A: Absolutely. Travel takes my skin through all kinds of climates, so I adjust often. I keep a hydrating serum for dry spots and a mattifying moisturizer for humid areas. And SPF is always in my routine, rain or shine!

💅 Q: What’s one beauty item you can’t live without on the road?

A: Just one? That’s rude. 😂 But if I had to choose — probably my cream blush stick. It works as blush, lip tint, and even eyeshadow in a pinch. (Runner-up: mascara! Small item, big impact.)

✨ Q: How do you stay inspired with your beauty looks when you’re on the move?

A: I love finding inspiration in our travels — desert neutrals, forest greens, sunset shimmer... nature is the best palette! Plus, I follow beauty creators online, and sometimes just trying a new lip combo gives me life.

Until then, stay radiant and resourceful,

Beauty Tag 150-175 (Continuation)

 Hey Y'all!

We're continuing this blog series:

https://craftinwifescreations.blogspot.com/2025/07/continuing-beauty-tag-126-150.html

The numbers are off again... IDK.

This is 150-175, The questions can be found here:

https://wisledge.com/beauty-tag-questions/

  1. Is there any cosmetic that can be used for multi-purpose? Lots. For example most all lipstick can double as blush, if eyeshadow is eye safe then it's face safe too.
  2. What’s your favorite makeup mantra? Not really a mantra, but IMO there's no "season" for specific colors. Wear what you like, whenever you want.
  3. Do you have any particular beauty wish? Nope. Not that I can think of.
  4. How would you like to do your wedding makeup? That happened a loooong time ago. I'd do it much the same, only more bold, now.
  5. Which type of neckpiece suits you the best? I do not know what this is asking.
  6. What was your first lipstick? Jane Cosmetics is one of the first I remember.
  7. Which shade of lipstick is actually the best nude for you? I don't know, I own about 30 nudes, LOL.
  8. Would you ever go through any cosmetic surgery? No thanks.
  9. Do you like contouring? I don't really do it, so I guess not.
  10. HD makeup or normal makeup? Normal...
  11. Matter liner or glittered liner? Depends on the day/look. Glitter for Christmas almost always.
  12. What is the best compliment you have got to date for your makeup skill? Just that it looks good.
  13. What requires to be a makeup guru? A love of makeup, skill in application, and a following who likes your style.
  14. Have you ever given any free consult to save anyone’s skin condition? No.
  15. How does it feel to wear bold makeup? Amazing.
  16. Which perfume can energize your mind? Happy, Clinique
  17. Which hairstyle suits you the best? I'll let you know when I find it.
  18. So, which type of color lens suits you the best? Any I choose.
  19. Glitter, glossy, or matte nail paint? All them.
  20. Have you ever waxed your eyebrow? Yeah. You?
  21. Have you ever eaten lipstick in your childhood? I'm sure I might have, but I've not heard stories so maybe not.
  22. What is the perfect base for your makeup? I like porefessional, but haven't bought it in years. I just keep trying new things instead.
  23. 3 beauty tips that your mom taught you? Black eyeliner is best when heated, Covergirl is too orange for us, perfume is best when used sparingly.
  24. Have you ever tried applying colored mascara? Lots of times!
  25. Which is your favorite brand of bathing products? Ummm... Bath and Body Works

Have a great day,
Craftin' Wife

More About ME!

 Hey Y'all!

It's been awhile since I've done the first 50 in this get to know me blog series, the questions can be found here.

51. If you could choose your own work schedule, would you? I do! It's awesome. It'll be more scheduled as the season opens up though.

52. Is there one job you’d never ever do? I wouldn't want to be a telemarketer ever again, worst job ever, and that was for the Police Benevolent Society.

53. What’s the first thing you do after getting home from work? N/A I'm already home. For any other gig it's to take off my shoes.

54. Who or what inspires you in your career? Everything! Creatives find inspiration everywhere.

55. How do you approach taking time off from work? I make sure time sensitive stuff is done, then, I take off when I need/want.

56. What’s something an outsider wouldn’t know about your industry? It's not as easy as it looks.

57. Do you have a morning routine at work? If so, what it’s like? Generally I start my day by checking email, social media, etc. Then I get started on what needs done. Not much of a routine, but I don't know how to explain it since it's not the same day to day.

58. What’s your commute to work like? Non-existent for the blogs and social media, a 5min walk for the workamp gig.

59. Are you able to work from home, and if so, do you enjoy it? Yes, and yes.

60. Do you get along with all your coworkers? Yeah, I like me. For the other, yes the owners are very nice.

61. What’s your favorite thing about your current job? The creativity I have over all aspects of running things day to day.

62. What annoys you most? Not having customer/reader engagement.

63. What’s the career highlight you’re most proud of? Going from PT to Management in a little over 6mo.

64. Do you think you’ll stay in your current gig awhile? Why or why not? If it makes financial sense, yes. We plan to continue workamping, but shorter gigs going forward.

65. What type of role do you want to take on after this one? I like what I'm doing. I enjoyed retail management, but I prefer smaller companies.

66. Are you more of a "work to live" or a "live to work" type of person? Work is necessary, but family is always #1.

67. Does your job make you feel happy and fulfilled? Why or why not? These are getting redundant, and I'm getting bored. I love doing what I do, I love the creativity. I love seeing my customers happy!

68. How would your 10-year-old self react to what you do now? I had no "I wanna be... when I grow up" type ideas, but I think I'd think this is pretty cool.

69. What do you remember most about your first job? It was pretty easy. Leggs Hanes, even when it was busy it wasn't too much.  There was always at least 3 of us there, and we shared the responsibilities.

70. How old were you when you started working? Babysitting, around 14. "Real Job" 16.

71. What’s the worst job you’ve ever had? The aforementioned telemarketing, and Kmart. Both horrible.

72. What originally got you interested in your current field of work? Growing up a kid of crafty creative people?! Dad worked for JoAnn Fabrics in the warehouse, then as a truck driver for many, many years. (Ride-alongs were awesome when they still allowed them!) He finished his career with them at company headquarters in the order shipping/receiving department. Mom wouldn't call herself crafty, but she was (and is) always re-decorating, painting, making curtains, etc. For the workamping, it just makes sense with our lifestyle.

73. Have you ever had a side hustle or considered having one? This was it. Now it's my hustle hustle.

74. What’s your favorite part of the workday? Designing something new, coming up with new ideas.

75. What’s the best career decision you’ve ever made? I don't know that I've made it yet, but so far it's been believing in myself. Now I'd like to generate enough income to consistently be able to pay for a tank of gas or 2, or 3...

What's been your best/worst job? Share in the comments below!

Let's finish up the work questions section!

76. What’s the worst career decision you’ve ever made? Leaving Fabulous Gang (Salon) for Fiesta Hair & Tanning. Or really not going back when the owner called and offered me a huge sign on bonus and the Salon Manager position if I'd come back.

Fiesta was such a hard company to work for, the rules only applied to some, the mandatory travel meetings only applied to some, the receptionists would write up retail sales under her name so she'd earn more money, breaks were non existent even if we were dead.

Fabulous Gang was a smaller salon, in a smaller town, but it was just as busy and had loyal customers.

77. Do you consider yourself good at networking? Not really, I'm not much of a people person.

78. What career advice would you give to your younger self? I don't know. I learned something from everywhere along the way.

79. Do you believe in having a "five-year plan"? Not really.

80. How do you separate your work life from your home life? I don't start working until I've eaten breakfast. I stop for lunch, and I quit for the day by 3:30 most days. I take breaks in-between sometimes too, that's the nice thing about working from home. For workamping, none of the shifts are too long, and we get lots of breaks.

81. When will you know you've "made it"? When I can rely on my income to generate income every month. That's the current goal.

82. Are you looking forward to retiring, or do you plan to work as long as possible? I'll do this as long as I can, I truly enjoy it!

83. Have you ever had "imposter syndrome"? Nope.

84. What do you think about workaholics? You do you Boo. For me other things are more important.

85. What qualities do you look for in a boss? Constrictive critic, creative, fair.

86. Do you have a professional mentor? If not, do you want one? Not really, and no I don't really want one. I get tips, tricks, advice, ideas, etc. from several sources (online and in person) and that's enough for me.

87. What energizes you about your career? The ability to create freely.

88. Are you into after-work happy hours? I never participated much once I was an adult. I got along with most of my coworkers along the way just fine, but we all had other real life adulting to do after work.

89. How do you motivate yourself in your career? IDK. I guess because I'm interested and invested in what I do, and love to create it's pretty easy. I don't think about it, I create a loose schedule and just do it.

90. What's the best career advice you've ever heard? Don't stay somewhere that doesn't respect you as a person.

91. What's the worst career advice you've ever received? Not really advice but the worst reason to stay in a dead end is because "It's a paycheck". There are too many good jobs out there to stick with something you hate.

92. When you started your current job, what most surprised you? How much more work it is, and how much I love it.

93. How do you pick yourself back up after making a mistake at work? Fix it, and move on.

94. How do you deal with work stress? Take a break.

95. Do you have a work bestie? Myself?! LOL

96. What's one work-related thing you want to accomplish in the next year? Learning new things, about Campground operations behind the scenes.

97. Who has had the biggest impact on your career choice? More of a what, not a who. The plan after my previous job location closed was to take the rest of the Summer off, and start looking in the Fall when school started back. Life had other ideas. I got sick, and then Covid was also happening during treatment. I started crafting again, and that became my "job". I didn't love the making 100 of the same thing aspect, and switched to teaching others, blogging, and custom orders only.

98. What does your family think of your career? They think it's cool.

99. What's the best thing you've learned in your current position? Working for yourself is so rewarding.

100. If you could do it all over again, would you pursue the same career? Why or why not? I don't know. Where's the "re-start" point? Maybe if I'd have stayed in Ohio I'd have stayed in the beauty industry. Maybe I'd have stayed in retail. Maybe I'd use my business administration degree in some high-rise in Cleveland... Who knows? Or maybe all paths would lead me right here anyhow.

Have a great day,

No GRWM, About Me Instead

 Hey Y'all!

I haven't really done any getting ready, that I remembered to film/picture lately. So this instead...

The questions can be found here:

200 QU's

1. What’s your favorite way to spend a day off? Spending time with family. Doing pretty much anything, playing games, hiking, watching movies, going to parks, etc.

2. What type of music are you into? I like a huge variety. Not big on big band, swing, heavy metal, or hardcore rap, but I'll listen to pretty much anything. Not loving most of the new pop, but I'm old.

3. What was the best vacation you ever took pre vanlife and why? I've been fortunate enough to take a decent amount of vacations/road trips in my life so far. My favorites are Disney, and then it's really vacations that were made awesome by the journey like the first trip with Lisa to NC, the trip with hubby and MIL that no one believed we went that far (VA to DE and NJ and back in 24hrs)... Fun trips like that.

4. Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why? The goal is all 50 states, so we need to start heading west... We just crossed Illinois off! Woohoo!

5, .What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them? Crafting (Dad worked for JoAnn Fabrics Corp.) Reading (Mom always took us to the library, before we could even read.) Day Trips (We did those all the time growing up, and hubby and I have always enjoyed just picking a direction and seeing where the day takes us.) Gaming (We got our 1st gaming system {Nintendo} from one of my Dad's friends, we really only played in the long cold NE Ohio winters, but had a lot of fun playing. Then Hubby was huge into gaming, and introduced sis & I to the Sims, yeah the first one.. We'd play for hours together. Now we own a lot of games/systems and play something at least weekly.)

6. What was your favorite age growing up? Hmm.. probably like 10-13. Still a kid but old enough to do some fun stuff without Mom and Dad.

7. Was the last thing you read? Misty, V.C. Andrews- It was good, but different from the Landry Series, which is the only other books I've read by her.

8. Would you say you’re more of an extrovert or an introvert? Introvert..

9. What's your favorite ice cream topping? Nothing. I like mint or cookies and cream, peanut butter, cookie dough type flavors so they don't "need" toppings.

10. What was the last TV show you binge-watched? Law & Order SVU, I'm almost caught up. (Earlier seasons were better.)

11. Are you into podcasts or do you only listen to music? Music.

12. Do you have a favorite holiday? Why or why not? Halloween, because SPOOKY is fun. Christmas, because magical.

13. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Salad, or pizza. Different toppings would make it the most versatile food option(s).

14. Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching at home? Home. I can have whatever food/drinks I want. Pause it if needed. Have it at a volume less than bust your eardrums. Yeah, home is better.

15. What’s your favorite sleeping position? Usually I end up on my left side. But I flip over a lot.

16. What’s your go-to guilty pleasure? IDK.

17. In the summer, would you rather go to the beach or go camping? Both, camp at/near the beach.

18. What’s your favorite quote from a TV show/movie/book? LOL. Too many to list. Hubby and I like to quote movies and then play wrong answers only.

19. How old were you when you had your first celebrity crush, and who was it? Umm.. maybe JTT so probably like 13ish..

20. What's one thing that can instantly make your day better? Food. LOL. And exploring new areas.

21. Do you have any pet peeves? Shitty drivers is #1.

22. Which meal is your favorite: breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Dinner I guess. But I'm all for eat what you want regardless of the clock. Pancakes for dinner? Awesome! Chicken Sandwich for breakfast? Cool, you do you.

23. What song always gets you out on the dance floor? Nope. I dance at home, but not going dancing.

24. When you were a kid, did you eat the crusts on your sandwich or not? Yeah, most of the time. We weren't picky kids (sis and I) our parents let us develop our own taste.. there was no such thing as "kid food".  We had chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, etc but it wasn't labeled as kid specific food. Mom made one dinner, and allowed for 1 modification. You don't want sloppy joe's? You can have a hamburger. You don't like green beans? You can have a salad. For our breakfasts and lunches we got to choose whatever we wanted (within reason).

25. What activity instantly calms you? Breathe in for 5 sec, out for 5 sec.

These were actually pretty fun questions! So let's do 25 more, then y'all let me know if you want me to continue.

26. Ideally, how would you spend your birthday? Exploring, adventuring, doing whatever, and cheesecake for dessert.

27. What do you do on your commute to/from work? When I had a "regular" job? Listen to music, loudly.

28. Do you have a favorite type of exercise? Walking.

29. What's your favorite season and why? It used to be summer, but now I find it too hot. I love Fall, so many activities happen in the fall!

30. What's the best joke you've ever heard? IDK

31. What's the app you use most? Facebook

32. Would you rather cook or order in? Cook

33. Have your ever disliked something and then changed your mind? Yes, that's part of growth and learning. Plus tastes change as you age.

34. What's your favorite board game? I like the classics. Monopoly, Sorry, Clue, etc. The new kids games that are all about poop and boogers are just gross and pointless.

35. How do you take your coffee? 2 cream, 1 sugar, 4 pumps sugar free flavor for a large, but I drink water most of the time.

36 What's your most prized possession and why? Things are things. I suppose if I had to pick something it'd be my Cricut. It helps me be crafty!

37. Is there any product that you couldn't live without? No, I'm sure there's plenty I wouldn't want to live without, but it's possible to live without most every 'thing'.

38. Do you sleep with a top sheet? Why or why not? Yes, it feels weird without it.

39. If you could have any exotic animal as a pet, which would it be? Nothing. They aren't pets for a reason.

40. What would be the first thing you'd do if you won the lottery? Get a money man. Then get a fancy van. Invest/save the rest.

41. What’s your favorite thing about your current job? Flexibility.

42. What annoys you most? Idiot drivers.

43. What’s the career highlight you’re most proud of? Going from PT cashier, to FT management in less than 6mo.

44. Do you think you’ll stay in your current gig awhile? Why or why not? I plan to keep this up regardless, but I'd like to get some sponsored content, or partnerships.

45. What type of role do you want to take on after this one? I own this, so just doing MORE is the goal.

46. Are you more of a "work to live" or a "live to work" type of person? Work is secondary, always.

47. Does your job make you feel happy and fulfilled? Why or why not? Yes, I love what I'm doing. I just need it to generate more income, but it's a work in progress.

48. How would your 10-year-old self react to what you do now? Pretty cool! A lot of the things I've done are pretty cool. I've also had some pretty shitty jobs (looking at you Kmart). My only regret is letting my cosmetology license lapse after we moved (to TN from OH).

49. What do you remember most about your first job? It wasn't bad. I worked at what was then called Leggs Hanes Bali Playtex Outlet in an outdoor outlet mall. Saturdays were busy, but there was always 3-6 of us there, so it wasn't ever overwhelming. Looking back now, I'd probably be bored out of my mind. Other than letting someone in the fitting room, cleaning that up, and cashiering, and the occasional stocking there wasn't really ever much for us to do. The manager took care of everything herself for the most part.

50. How old were you when you started working? 15, babysitting, I had 3 families. 1 was a weekly 2 day gig, Tuesday thru Thursday, I'd spend the nights. (Their dad got home around 10 and their mom got home around 12 and both were gone by the time we got up in the morning.) The (2) kids and I would hang out and play, walk to the park, the library, or McDonalds. They were pretty good kids, a boy 6 and a 4 yr old girl. Their parents paid for everything we ever did on top of my normal pay. Easiest money I've ever made. The other two were occasional weekend gigs.

What was your first job? Let me know in the comments below!

Have a great day,

Craftin' Wife
