Creative Planner & Journal DIYs for 2026

Creative Planner & Journal DIYs for 2026

New year, new planner! Whether you love bullet journaling, scrapbooking, or customizing pre-made planners, 2026 is your chance to create something that’s truly yours. Here are fresh ideas to personalize your planner, journal, or scrapbook this year.

1. Custom Covers and Title Pages

Make your planner stand out before you even open it:

  • Fabric & Washi Wraps: Use patterned fabrics or washi tape to wrap your planner cover. Add a layer of clear contact paper for durability.

  • Hand-Lettered Titles: Start each planner with a beautiful hand-lettered title page using brush pens or metallic markers.

  • Mixed Media Collage: Combine magazine clippings, stickers, pressed flowers, and scrapbook paper for a textured, artistic cover.

2. Monthly Themes

Assign each month a unique theme to keep things exciting:

  • Seasonal Vibes: Frosty blues for January, cherry blossoms for April, fiery autumn tones for October.

  • Pop Culture & Hobby Themes: Pick themes inspired by your favorite books, movies, or crafting hobbies. Example: “Cozy Reading Nook” for February or “Vintage Travel” for August.

  • Mood Trackers: Integrate colors, stickers, or tiny doodles to reflect your monthly mood.

3. Functional DIY Inserts

Make your planner more than a schedule—turn it into a creative tool:

  • Habit & Goal Trackers: Create charts, grids, or “habit ladders” to visualize progress.

  • Memory Pages: Include space for photos, ticket stubs, or little notes to capture the year’s memories.

  • Mini Envelopes & Pockets: Attach pockets to store receipts, stickers, or small ephemera.

4. Bullet Journal Extras

Bullet journaling remains a top trend for 2026, but you can make it your own:

  • Interactive Pages: Add flaps, fold-outs, or hidden notes to surprise yourself throughout the year.

  • Color Coding & Icons: Develop a personal legend for tasks, events, and goals. Use colors and symbols to organize your life at a glance.

  • Weekly “Micro-Art”: Add a tiny doodle or sketch for each week. It’s a small creative break that keeps your journal lively.

5. Scrapbook-Style Personalization

Turn your planner into a mini scrapbook:

  • Photo Stickers: Print your favorite photos as small stickers and decorate pages.

  • Ephemera Collage: Include concert tickets, postcards, or magazine cutouts to tell your year’s story.

  • Textured Accents: Layer ribbons, pressed leaves, or embossed paper for tactile interest.

6. Trend-Forward Additions for 2026

  • Digital & Printable Hybrids: Mix hand-drawn pages with printed digital planners for flexibility.

  • Sustainable Crafting: Use recycled papers, eco-friendly pens, or fabric scraps for an earth-conscious planner.

  • Self-Care Focus: Add pages for meditation, gratitude, or mental health check-ins—a big trend in 2026 journaling.

Quick Tips for Personalization

  1. Start small—decorate one page at a time.

  2. Use erasable pens for layouts that might change.

  3. Mix textures: paper, stickers, and fabric create depth.

  4. Dedicate a few pages to “brainstorm” doodles or ideas you can use later.

Top Nail Polishes for Winter

Top Nail Polishes for Winter ❄️๐Ÿ’…

Seasonal Color Combos & Styles to Love All Season Long

Winter is the season of cozy sweaters, hot drinks, and extra time admiring your nails while holding a mug. Whether you love bold drama or soft, frosty neutrals, winter nail polish is all about rich tones, icy accents, and finishes that feel luxe and intentional.

Let’s dive into the must-have winter shades, stunning color combos, and nail styles that shine when the temperatures drop.

❄️ Classic Winter Nail Colors

These shades never miss during the colder months:

  • Deep Reds & Wine Tones
Think cranberry, oxblood, and burgundy. They’re festive without screaming holiday and pair beautifully with both jeans and dressy outfits.

  • Evergreen & Forest Green
A perfect alternative to red, deep greens feel earthy, elegant, and very winter-cabin-core.

  • Midnight Blue & Navy
Dark blues mimic winter skies and look incredible with silver or white accents.

  • Charcoal, Slate & Soft Black
Not quite black, these moody neutrals feel modern and pair well with glossy or matte finishes.

✨ Frosty Neutrals (But Make Them Winter)

Neutrals don’t have to be boring—winter is where they really shine.

  • Cool-Toned Taupes & Greiges

  • Milky Whites & Sheer Icy Pink

  • Soft Lavender-Grey

These shades are perfect for minimalist nail lovers or as a base for winter nail art.

❄️ Winter Color Combos to Try

If you love mixing things up, these combos are winter perfection:

  • Burgundy + Gold Accents – classy and festive

  • Navy + Silver Glitter – icy and elegant

  • Forest Green + Nude – earthy with balance

  • Charcoal + Snow White – clean, high-contrast winter vibes

  • Icy Blue + Pearl Finish – frosted fairy energy

Try them as accent nails, French tips, or subtle striping.

๐Ÿ’Ž Winter Nail Styles & Finishes

Winter is the best season for texture and drama:

  • Matte Nails
Matte burgundy, green, or grey feels ultra-cozy and sophisticated.

  • Glitter (Strategic, Not Overload)
Accent nails, ombrรฉ tips, or fine shimmer only—no chunky glitter disasters here ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Chrome & Pearl Finishes
Especially stunning in silvers, icy pinks, and soft whites.

  • Winter Nail Art Ideas

    • Snowflakes (tiny + minimal)

    • Sweater-knit textures

    • Stars and moons

    • Subtle holiday symbols you can wear past December

๐Ÿ’… Practical Winter Nail Tips

Because winter is hard on hands and nails:

  • Use cuticle oil daily (seriously)

  • Switch to hand cream after every wash

  • Consider shorter lengths to avoid winter breakage

  • Gloves aren’t just for warmth—they’re nail protection!

Winter nails are all about embracing rich colors, cozy finishes, and a little sparkle that catches the light just right. Whether you’re crafting, reading, or sipping something warm, your nails deserve to feel just as put-together as the rest of your winter vibe.

So tell me—are you more of a deep, moody winter nail person, or do you love icy neutrals with a hint of shimmer? ๐Ÿ’…

Christmas Eve Beauty Routine: A Simple, Festive Look

Christmas Eve Beauty Routine: A Simple, Festive Look

Perfect for photos, family gatherings, or holiday parties

Christmas Eve is one of my favorite nights of the year—cozy lights, good food, familiar faces, and that soft kind of magic that doesn’t need to be loud to be beautiful. When it comes to my beauty routine, I like something that feels special but effortless, festive without being fussy, and comfortable enough to last through dinner, photos, and late-night cocoa.

This routine is all about enhancing what’s already there, adding a touch of holiday glow, and keeping things simple, wearable, and stress-free.

Step 1: Prep for Comfort & Glow

Before any makeup goes on, skincare is the real hero.

  • Gentle cleanser

  • Lightweight moisturizer (nothing greasy—especially if you’ll be indoors)

  • Lip balm (trust me, future-you will be grateful)

If your skin feels dry this time of year, a hydrating primer or glow lotion can make all the difference without adding heaviness.

Step 2: Even, Natural Base

Christmas Eve makeup should feel like you, just a little polished.

  • Light-to-medium coverage foundation or BB cream

  • Concealer only where needed (under eyes, redness, blemishes)

  • Soft setting powder on the T-zone to keep shine in check

I skip heavy contouring and go for a natural finish—it photographs better and feels more comfortable all night.

Step 3: Warm, Festive Eyes (No Fuss)

This is where the holiday magic sneaks in—without loose glitter or complicated blending.

  • Neutral matte shade through the crease

  • Soft shimmer or satin shade on the lid (champagne, rose gold, or copper)

  • Light brown or bronze liner smudged along the lash line

  • A few coats of mascara

The goal is warm, cozy, and softly glowing, not dramatic.

Step 4: Brows That Behave

Defined brows pull the whole look together.

  • Light fill with pencil or powder

  • Brush through with clear or tinted brow gel

Nothing harsh—just tidy and natural.

Step 5: Fresh Cheeks

A healthy flush makes everything feel festive.

  • Cream or soft powder blush in rose, berry, or peach

  • Optional subtle highlight on cheekbones (keep it soft, not sparkly)

Think “I’ve been laughing all evening,” not “stage makeup.”

Step 6: A Holiday Lip

Lips are where you can lean a little more festive if you want.

  • Classic red for bold holiday vibes

  • Berry or wine for something cozy

  • Glossy nude if you prefer simple elegance

Pro tip: Blot once and reapply for longer wear—especially before photos.

Step 7: Set & Go

A light setting spray helps everything melt together and stay put through hugs, dinner, and dessert.

Final Thoughts

This Christmas Eve beauty routine is all about feeling good, not doing the most. It’s soft, festive, photo-friendly, and comfortable enough to enjoy the night without worrying about touch-ups.

Whether you’re gathered around the table, snapping family photos, or curled up with someone you love, this look lets you shine—just with a little holiday glow.

Wishing you a cozy, beautiful Christmas Eve ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŽ„

DIY Rustic Christmas Ornaments Using Twine & Buttons

DIY Rustic Christmas Ornaments Using Twine & Buttons

Simple, charming, farmhouse-style ornaments

There’s something extra special about Christmas dรฉcor that feels handmade and heartfelt. Rustic ornaments have that cozy, farmhouse charm that instantly makes a space feel warm—especially when they’re made with simple supplies you probably already have in your craft stash.

Today I’m sharing an easy DIY for rustic Christmas ornaments using twine and buttons. No fancy tools, no mess, and absolutely no loose glitter (because we don’t do that here ๐Ÿ˜‰).

What You’ll Need

  • Twine or jute cord

  • Assorted buttons (wood, neutral, or vintage-style work best)

  • Cardboard or kraft paper

  • Hot glue gun or strong craft glue

  • Scissors

  • Pencil

Optional extras:

  • Small wooden beads

  • Scrap fabric or lace

  • Cinnamon sticks or mini pinecones (for extra farmhouse vibes)

Step 1: Create Your Ornament Base

Using cardboard or kraft paper, lightly sketch simple shapes:

  • Christmas trees

  • Stars

  • Hearts

  • Or classic circles

Cut them out carefully—these will be the base of your ornament.

Step 2: Wrap with Twine

Starting at the back, secure one end of the twine with a dab of glue. Wrap the twine tightly around the shape, keeping the rows close together so the base doesn’t show through. When fully covered, glue the end down on the back.

Tip: Slight imperfections add to the rustic charm—don’t stress about perfection.

Step 3: Add Buttons

Now for the fun part! Arrange buttons on the front of your ornament:

  • Stack buttons vertically to mimic a Christmas tree

  • Cluster smaller buttons for texture

  • Use a single statement button as a focal point

Glue them in place and let everything dry fully.

Step 4: Attach a Hanger

Cut a short piece of twine, loop it, and glue it securely to the back of your ornament. You can also add a wooden bead to the loop for extra detail.

Styling Ideas

  • Hang them on a tree with warm white lights

  • Tie them onto gift packages for a handmade touch

  • Use them as stocking tags

  • String several together for a rustic garland

These ornaments look especially lovely paired with wood tones, greenery, and neutral holiday dรฉcor.

Why I Love This Craft

This project is:

  • Budget-friendly

  • Beginner-friendly

  • Mess-free

  • Easy to customize

Plus, it’s perfect for a cozy crafting night with a hot drink, a good playlist, and zero cleanup stress.

If you make these, I’d love to see them! Tag me or share your creations—there’s nothing better than seeing handmade holiday dรฉcor come to life.

Happy crafting & cozy holidays,
Amanda

My Top 5 Cozy Holiday Reads for Crafting Nights

My Top 5 Cozy Holiday Reads for Crafting Nights

Books that pair perfectly with a hot drink and a project

There’s something magical about winter crafting nights. The lights are low, a candle is flickering, your favorite hot drink is within arm’s reach—and a good book is keeping you company while your hands stay busy. These are the kinds of reads that don’t demand all your attention but still wrap you up in cozy, festive vibes.

Whether you’re crocheting, knitting, journaling, or working on a holiday craft, these books are perfect companions for slow, snug evenings.

1. The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan

If “cozy” were a book, this would be it.

This story has charming characters, holiday cheer, and a bookshop (which automatically earns bonus points). The writing is gentle and comforting—easy to follow even if you’re counting stitches or switching yarn colors.

Perfect for:
✔ Crochet or knitting projects
✔ Peppermint mocha nights
✔ When you want Christmas vibes without stress

2. The Mistletoe Motive by Chloe Liese

This one is sweet, festive, and filled with bookish romance. It’s lighthearted, warm, and ideal if you love rivals-to-lovers with a holiday backdrop.

The chapters are bite-sized enough to enjoy between craft breaks, and the story feels like a Hallmark movie—only cozier.

Perfect for:
✔ Scrapbooking or card-making
✔ Soft blankets and fairy lights
✔ Romance without heavy drama

3. A Cozy Christmas by Heather Vogel Frederick

This book is literally a celebration of cozy living. It’s a mix of stories, reflections, and seasonal inspiration—making it easy to pick up and put down while crafting.

You don’t have to remember complex plotlines, which makes it perfect for hands-on projects that require focus.

Perfect for:
✔ Long crafting sessions
✔ Mixed media or embroidery
✔ Sipping tea and slowing down

4. The Twelve Slays of Christmas by Jacqueline Frost

If you love a little mystery with your mistletoe, this cozy holiday whodunit is a fun choice. It’s festive without being scary and keeps the stakes low enough that you won’t panic if you miss a detail while crafting.

It adds just enough intrigue to keep things interesting.

Perfect for:
✔ Repetitive projects (granny squares, anyone?)
✔ Snowy nights
✔ Readers who want cozy with a plot

5. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

A classic for a reason—and especially comforting during the holidays.

This book feels like a warm hug. The pacing is gentle, the themes are heart-centered, and it’s incredibly forgiving if you get distracted by your craft (or snacks).

Perfect for:
✔ Slow, mindful crafting
✔ Nostalgic holiday moods
✔ When you want something timeless and soothing

Final Cozy Tip

For crafting nights, I love choosing books that:

  • Don’t rely on nonstop action

  • Have clear, comforting voices

  • Feel like a friend sitting nearby

Pair your read with a hot drink, a favorite project, and permission to go slow. That’s where the real magic happens ✨

If you have a favorite cozy read you always come back to during the holidays, I’d love to hear about it—drop it in the comments or tag me on social!

Happy crafting & happy reading ๐Ÿค๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ“–
