Holiday Crafts, Thanksgiving with Cricut

  Hey Y'all!

I thought I'd share a how to first, and then afterward some of my favorite projects in Design Space...

Today we'll be creating cute, yet simple Thanksgiving Placemats. My family is not into big, elaborate, displays, so these are perfect for us. Plus, then can easily be tossed after the mean without worry.

Supplies:

Cricut

Cricut Pens (any color)

Paper/Cardstock

Adhesive of your choice

I used two FREE images for this project. Unfortunately I forgot to save the details for the bottom scalloped circle image, and after a good 15min trying to find it in design space again I gave up. There are plenty of images similar to this one... and even it is up there somewhere.

The leaves:

Once I added both to my canvas I ungrouped the leaves, and hid the score lines. I then began working with them individually.

On the leaves I typed out each name, and then manipulated it to fit where I wanted.

The font I used is Hey Butterfly, and can be found here:

I typed out the word Thanksgiving, and centered that on my placemats.

One that was done, I started planning the leaf placement for each.

Now it's ready to MAKE.

In the planning phase I hadn't decided what color pens I was going to use. I decided to use the left over pink sticker cardstock from a previous project instead of red. I have a huge 12x12 paper stack out and this paper was the most neutral. So, instead of the black pen shown on screen I went with a green glitter and a metallic gold.

Paper is on the mat and pen is loaded in the machine!

This cut on Paper- very easily. No bits were hung up, or uncut.

The leaf I cut (on the Air2) on Heavy Cardstock setting. That seemed to work out well. It did cut all the way through the sticker paper, but this was a simple enough design to easily peel the backing off.

Adhere the two pieces, and you're done!

Have you scrolled through the Design Space Thanksgiving community projects yet? So many talented crafters! I had to share a few of my favorites with you.

My Top 5 Thanksgiving Projects:

(In no particular order.)

1) Fall Napkin Ring/ Pumpkin Napkin Ring (Michelle Goodson)

I had to share both the community members version and her inspiration project I like them both so much.

These are super cute, and would dress up any table. I think the pumpkins in a patterned or textured paper that coordinates, like Michelle did, is very pretty (in fact I may like hers more). At an average of 45min it's a very doable last minute project.

2) Thanksgiving Place Cards (Anna Rose Johnson)

These are much more elevated, and elegant than the ones I made in a previous How-To blog. I think they would match any décor and look great on anyone's table.

3) Turkey Napkins For Thanksgiving (Lindsay Fekitoa)

I think these are adorable! I love the metallic gold too. I could see a patterned napkin, with any solid "fall" color being cute as well.

4) Thanksgiving Centerpiece (Laura DeCristino)

https://design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/5fbeb0a6fa36d1106c8a1a32

I am in awe of the things paper crafters come up with. How gorgeous is this? I love these type of projects, but do not have the patience or space to put them together myself.

5) Thanksgiving Pie Banner (Miss Rita To The Rescue)

https://design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/616d8c61dad99e00018b1427

I really like the banner, and may have to make one for some holiday were out and it'd not too windy. I love that if you swapped out some colors you could totally customize the pies in the banner, or change them to pizza slices.

Bonus/ Self Promotion:

6) Thanksgiving Side Chick (Craftin' Wife)

This sweatshirt was fun to make! I already wore it (with fall printed leggings).
