Hey Y'all!
Welcome to part 2B (Android) of this five part How To: Cricut Design Space Series! In part one (HERE) we went over how to download design space, and the home screen. In this part I'll be discussing the canvas (new project), and it's terms, functions, etc.
This is a continuation of yesterdays blog, which went over Canvas on PC.
Upcoming Parts:
Part 3- How To: Upload your own images, reputable places I visit for files.
Part 4- How To: Complete a project:
A) Cut Vinyl, Paper
B) Print then Cut
C) Draw
Part 5- Misc, anything we haven't gone over, answering any questions. Feel free to leave a comment here, or on any of my social media about any design space functionality.
The pictures show up pretty small on the blog, just click on them to enlarge.
Canvas for Android Users:
Many options will function in the same way as they did on PC, just the layout of the canvas has changed. There are a few exceptions, and we'll go over those in this blog. That said not all options are available on mobile.
(I rarely create from my phone, usually I just browse images or projects and go to my PC to actually design or make anything. For me, I find the back and forth to do any image manipulation and/or editing tedious. That coupled with the size of my phone screen make the PC version more preferable to me.)
Just about all the functions you'll use are along the bottom of the screen:
Image, Editable Image, Text, Shapes, Upload, Actions, Edit, Sync, Layers, Undo, Redo, & Settings.
Make it is in the top right.
Image search is almost identical to the PC version.
Here I've selected the Unicorn by clicking on it, then clicking Add.
Editable Images are searchable, but as you can read in the pop up, not supported on mobile currently.
Text- This is the one function I find more difficult to use on Android/mobile. The editing options are several clicks away each time you want to change something.
For the example I've typed out Mom:
The tools to change the text are under Edit.
Finally I chose a font, and change the letter spacing a bit. (I found this edit easier to do by typing in the number, rather than using the sliding scale.)
Shapes- There are fewer options than PC but they function the same.
Upload- More on this in part 3.
Actions- Delete, Duplicate, Group, Ungroup, Attach, Weld, Slice, Flatten, Unflatten, Isolate Letters.
(I strongly suggest checking out Part 2A, where I go over all these in much greater detail.)
Edit- Operation Type, Sizing, Flip, and *not pictured x & y axis, followed by Rotate, Arrange, Align, and lastly Distribute.
From this menu you can select your operation type, and change material color.
(Basic Cut, Draw, Print then Cut)
Changing the diamond color:
Layers- Here it will show every layer of each image on the mat. We just have 2, the circle and the diamond.
Settings- You can toggle the grid (part 1) here, switch to metric, and use the smart guides.
Make It- The Make screen gives us all the information to prep the mat(s) for our project. In this example it's showing we are making 1 copy of this project, have 2 mats, and 12x12 material.
You can change any of those settings by clicking on them, and choosing the correct one for your project.
I haven't used mobile in awhile so if I were going to cut this project I'd need to pair to my machine. I'll be doing this in Part 4 when we make a few projects together.

Have a great day,
